The Los Angeles Kings announced today that they’ve signed prospect Liam Greentree to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Greentree was the Kings’ first round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft, at 26th overall. This past season, Greentree scored 36 goals and 90 points in 64 games with the Windsor Spitfires, in just his sophomore OHL season.

Despite the contract though, it’s likely Greentree returns to the OHL next season. The forward isn’t eligible to play in the AHL next season, so assuming he doesn’t crack the Kings’ roster out of training camp, he’d return to junior hockey. If he doesn’t play at least 10 games with Los Angeles next season, his contract is also eligible to slide.

Regardless, Greentree is already one of the Kings’ most promising forward prospects, and the entry-level contract is the first step in what will hopefully be a successful tenure in Los Angeles.
