My Takeaways:

Ovechkin Gets Going - The captain scored 4-points on the night (2G-2A) and earned first star of the game. Heading into the game, Ovechkin had only registered one point in the first three games of the season. He has been generating tons of chances but it hasnt directly lead to offensive production in any capacity. Tonight, Ovechkin stepped up huge with a massive game. It is gr8 to see him get going, and even better against his former bench boss Bruce Boudreau.

Kuzy Doozy - Kuznetsov was a game-time decision heading into the contest against the Canucks as a result of “maintenance.” Kuznetsov ended up playing and had an overall solid game from an offensive standpoint. Kuz produced 3-assists last night. However, he did have a very suspect slash with a possible intent to injure Kyle Burroughs. It was bad. C'mon, Kuz! He could be facing a suspension but we will see with the department of player safety has to say.

Power Play - The otherwise dry and dull power play has showed life the last two games. After going 0 for 9 on the PP in the first two games of the season, the Caps power play has gone 3 for 5 in their last two games. This team right now is riding and dying on its special teams and I am slightly concerned.

Honorable Mention:

Dylan Strome scored his first goal as a Capital last night. He is tied for second on the team for points with 1G-3A-4P in 4GP. He has been a healthy addition to the lineup!

Next up, the Capitals travel to Ottawa to face the Senators on Thursday 10/20. Puck drops at 7pm EST.
