Homer in Philly draws some criticism here but the Flyers had a gaping hole on the blueline...
\
He didn't hesitate, which is key, and got Streit for a manageable #...$5.25 per

Filled a big hole and didn't wait until July 1 so no bidding war...

Inredible start, no finish as the Blackhawks drop Game 2 in OT. My Fox Chicago: FOX 32 News http://bit.ly/11IESN5

I was kinda hoping Stanbow might target Streit this off-season...snooze you lose I guess. But, how is legal that they can they make theses trades before the seaon is over? What happened to the trade deadline?

I will go out on a limb and say this: If they manage to beat the Bruins today after the pounding they took at home in game 2, they win the series. If they lose today, they're finished. They have to come back foaming at the mouth, angry and looking for revenge. Looking to play and play hard. And their so-called coach needs to LET them play.
- Q...argh

I think more than ever, a quick start, and an early lead are key. If Boston comes out controlling the play early, like they did Saturday from the 2nd period on, and then score first...it's going to be tough to turn that tide.

He's also a 35+ year old d-man who's cap hit stays with the team no matter that (i.e. he retires). It's a 4 year deal and Homer overpaid greatly to address the hole on the blueline. Not to mention it will likely cost Briere who will be bought out.

Wow, so now this team needs some kind of mental coach to help them play in a tough environment? Maybe they should bring Justin Rose in to teach them how to raise their game when the going gets tough. Phooey!

Skate and play a fast paced game and the Bruins won't score 1 or 2 early. Stand around and play slow and they get walloped. The game hasn't changed in that regard for 100 years.

Streit's too expensive given how average he is defensively IMO. But I agree, as much we rag on Bowman, its gotta be hard to get a deal done while you're team is in the playoffs and other teams have already started the off-season

Because Q needs someone to put in his dog house. Carcillo is this years Brouwer.
- z1990z

Thought Carcillo was Q's guy.

And - how about Carillo may still be feeling his leg injuries and not skating well.

Carcillo can't skate nearly as well this year, knee surgery can do that.

Its possible that he is injured. If that's the case, bring someone up. Just seemed that Q had a real short leash with 13 this year, but it all could be knee injury related.

I would think nobody should be able to make trades until the season ends. Apparently not the case.

I don't think they needed to bring anyone up, him, Bollig and Mayers were a fine platoon

This league manages to screw up almost everything it touches.

Should be a complete moratorium on player transactions (except maybe resigning your own) until July 1st.

Speaking of,, wth has Mayers been? One would think Jamal would have been ideal on the 4th line for this series.

I don't feel confident...then again I tend to be more of a half empty kinda guy. Hopefully Tazer and Co. are feeling better about it than I am.

When the stretch pass is the second pass instead of the first, it's really effective. Its when they get lazy (both the puck carrier and the guys regrouping to get open) and try to make it on the first pass is when the lose possession/ice it
- rollpards19

The stretch pass Pierre talks about is not the one we want to see....

The Hawks have had less of those this yr than in past seasons and the results spoke for themselves.

But what are the other choices for them?

Brierre will be gone so will Bryz...

The most illogical signing was Pronger when they did it.

The owner spends ...and there was no reason to wait, Streit is a vg player and can help their offense.

I think it's definitely knee injury related. He blew out his one knee last year, missed most of the season, then in the first period of the season opener hurt his other knee. He has no leg strength nor speed this year. Dressing him is the same as playing a man short.

I also think now is not the time to be putting guys from the minors in the lineup. As much as a Ben Smith might help on paper he hasn't played in the NHL in what, two years, and hasn't played a game anywhere in over a month. Stalberg or Bollig are about the only options Q has.

A more balanced consistent effort and the boys will be fine. Burning all adrenaline and energy on emotion in a stretch is a bit risky. Even as we waned the final few periods, the Hawks stayed in the game. Just could never get another burst for any stretch.

Money is no object in Philly and they got his rights for very little.

It is very difficult to find similar.

I am often critical of the ground hog day crowd here, but I will go out on a limb and do my version and call, for like the 9th game in a row, Toews breaks out tonight.....

That cup is almost half full...don't kid yourself....
