I was with you JJ on Carcillo entering into this series. I think he's more of an answer than Stalberg.

Some more pre-game reading before tonight's game:

Count me as one who thinks that if Carcillo is the answer, the wrong questions are being asked.

Not a fan.

But what are the other choices for them?

Brierre will be gone so will Bryz...

The most illogical signing was Pronger when they did it.

The owner spends ...and there was no reason to wait, Streit is a vg player and can help their offense.

Homer making more moves... as expected:

TSN's Bob McKenzie confirms the Philadelphia #Flyers will use its 2 compliance buyouts on Ilya Bryzgalov and Daniel Briere

I

If any of the Chicago Blackhawks are that fragile where a line change screws with their head then they should be shown the door.....it is an absolute ridiculous theory.

Q has always changed the lines, that is his MO......even in 2010 when they won the cup. The reason why he didn't do much of it this year was because of the streak. All the players know this and more or less expect it. This is nothing new to them so please stop with the theory it is screwing with their heads. He shook the lines up against Detroit and LA.....and they won both of those series. I see the short bus is getting full already and should be packed by game time......the wheels on the bus go round and round ....round and round.

This league manages to screw up almost everything it touches.

Should be a complete moratorium on player transactions (except maybe resigning your own) until July 1st.

- StLBravesFan

That could never happen. Hell the New Jersey Devils will go bankrupt the day before the Cup is won just to keep Bettman busy on the off days.

I was kinda hoping Stanbow might target Streit this off-season...snooze you lose I guess. But, how is legal that they can they make theses trades before the seaon is over? What happened to the trade deadline?
- Ogilthorpe2

Hawks can't afford any more $$ for defense....

More likely someone will go.

I think it's definitely knee injury related. He blew out his one knee last year, missed most of the season, then in the first period of the season opener hurt his other knee. He has no leg strength nor speed this year. Dressing him is the same as playing a man short.

I also think now is not the time to be putting guys from the minors in the lineup. As much as a Ben Smith might help on paper he hasn't played in the NHL in what, two years, and hasn't played a game anywhere in over a month. Stalberg or Bollig are about the only options Q has.

- Hemingways

Smith played 1 game at the end of the reg season. He scored a goal.

Many big market teams are + Pronger is a big anchor for them.

They will buyout a couple and hope for the best.

You're right, Homer didn't have much choice, but that still doesn't make it a good signing. Stan can't make a deal like this right now because his team is still playing and I'll take that any day. But if Stan could have made a deal who do we get rid of on the current roster to make room for Streit. Keeping in mind that Stan will need some cap space in a couple years with Kane, Toews, Saad, Hjalmarsson and Shaw are up for new deals.

For Philly it's an OK deal give their particular situation, but I wouldn't expect Stan to make a similar move. We need a PP quarterback (**cough, Campbell, cough cough**) but I wouldn't go the rough Homer did.

Speaking of Campbell, during his last season with us our PP was at about 23%. The 2 years after that it was 15.2% and 16.6%.

I was thinking maybe the "someone", whoever he may be, might go for a package inluding Streit, since the Isles were having trouble signing him, but he ended up getting too much for the Hawks to pay for sure.

It was more or less a throw away game and had very few regulars playing. He has not been in any game situation with the current team.

The one Islander I want is Frans Nielsen. At $2.75 million for another 3 years he could be a decent and cost effective 2C.

Road games help with match ups because Q and the players will not be focused on them because the Hawks have no control over them.

Put the lines out there and play like hell.

The message
Stay in the moment shift by shift

We need a split and I think we will get it.

Winning Cups is dam hard
1961-2010
We have an opportunity to win a second cup two years removed and Boston has a chance to win a second cup in three years.
Pretty exciting stuff for both teams and in the end who ever wants it the most will hoist the Cup.

No matter what happens it has been a great ride and hoping for a game 7!

Eh, the Hawks are in like 3rd worse shape and they still have 10 mil more to play with than the Flyers, with a better team already constructed. I don't see how the rebuild on the fly.

HA! funny guy......here is what else is funny. You try to put coherent thoughts together criticizing Q about everything under the sun yet you clamor for Ben Smith who hasn't played in any meaningful game with the Hawks in almost two years......you have this amazing idea to put him in game 3 of the stanley cup finals. You complain about changing lines saying it screws with the precious minds of the hawks, you say they can't get comfortable with each other but hey......throw Smith out there. There is no logic to your thoughts......
