I'm a glutton for punishment. NHL Network replayed Game 2 and I saw the end again. Seabrook had Frolik on the blue line, right wing. Kruger was in the slot with nobody on him. Keith was below the dot on the other side of Crawford. The only two guys 'covered' were Frolik and Bollig. Yeah, Bollig can't let that puck squirt through, but I just don't understand the logic of the pass TO Bollig in the first place. Still can't. Unless they clean that up, it doesn't matter who plays on the 4th line

It also seems like more than one mistake or misjudgement happens with most of the goals...

By design that is their outlet of choice many times...To switch sides.

Now I could also make the case the Paille wasn't covered well enough and still after fumbling the pass was able to send a nice shot to the net...
I could also make a case that Crawford makes that save 90% of the time...

But the bigger case can be made is the team that controlled the game after the 1st period deserved to win.

Inredible start, no finish as the Blackhawks drop Game 2 in OT. My Fox Chicago: FOX 32 News http://bit.ly/11IESN5

Time for the car bomb! He will help in this type of game.
We got pushed around last game and that contributed to the lost.

That's the other option. Just don't know where anyone gets this idea Stalberg is a playoff performer.

Carcillo is the best option the Hawks have, if Mayers had any speed he would be too. Bollig doesn't have the experience or skill to be in the lineup. Karma aside Stalberg adds nothing. The Hawks had all kinds of time to get some bangers in the line up knowing the whole time that these players are valuable in the playoffs. They chose not to and now have precious few and Carcillo is the best.

I hope he is put in the lineup but I fear he does something stupid.

I'm a little worried about Carcillo playing in the final, specifically with him taking an unnecessary penalty. I understand the benefits of adding somebody like Carcillo to the line-up, but it's not without risk.

If you're looking at somebody to play 5 - 10 minutes on the 4th line then it's not likely that Stalberg, Bollig or Carcillo will be difference makers. If we're going to take control of this series tonight it will be on the top 9 forwards more than the bottom 3.

Al, I think this is the best point of all -- you've put it succinctly for us.

Everyone has "their guy" they want to pick out and dump on -- as well as defend. Seabrook has done some very dumb things in these playoffs and other than 1 game, has not faced the consequences of it by either having a goal scored DIRECTLY from his mistake OR by getting nailed to the bench as Q has done with a few others.

I know everyone wants to pick on Leddy for the 1st goal and by no means am I absolving him on it -- seldom have seem him get faked out like that and not taken the body. It was a play guys from midgets on up should make. However, that play was only the 2nd piece that happened and there were 4 things that went wrong.

1. Sharp doesn't simply pop the puck out of the zone to relieve pressure but does the thing I absolutely hate most -- REVERSES it back deep into our zone where it then becomes Leddy's problem.

2. Leddy goes for the stick check instead of manning up and taking his guy -- so the puck makes its way to the front.

3. Kane lazy on the back check and lets the guy go, doesn't bother trying to tie up his stick.

4. Crawford doesn't get his paddle down and also opens up the 5 hole, letting the puck squirt beneath him. That puck should have been stopped -- but nonetheless, there were several others guys that f'd up before it.

This is what is irritating to me -- calling guys out for dumb plays but not doing so across the board. Seabrook's mistake cost us a goal -- maybe right that the puck came BACK to his guy and he scores. Get the puck out to begin with and we're not talking about it. Sharp gets the puck out to begin with, we're not talking about Leddy getting walked, Kane not backchecking or Crawford letting up a goal he should have stopped.

If Stalberg would hit people at all, i dont think anyone would have any problem with him being in the lineup ever. He just doesnt do it (often enough) though

that said, if he's in he better be ready to hit and be hit, i dont like seeing him get hit then immediately looking at the officials for a call. its annoying

As I said before, the most alarming thing about Saturday's loss was the manner in which they lost. After their second miserable failure of a PP (about 7 seconds of zone time...literally), they were totally dominated in every facet except the scoreboard.

Lots of people suggesting that the 1st period proves the Hawks can dominate if they just play "their game". Problem with that is that is, the 2nd, 3rd, and OT proved that Boston also appears to be able to dominate when they play "their game", and Boston seems better equipped to impose their will.

I hope tonight looks more like Saturday's 1st period, but I fear that in front of the home crowd, Boston may impose their will right from the opening puck drop. I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like a blowout is coming...and not the good kind. 5-1 B's.

If this was the case he would have never been scratched. Stals has tonnes of speed and decent size. But he hasn't used these attributes well enough to produce goals or checks. I'm hoping he steps up in game 3, I'd love to have UNS rub it in to all of us non-believers.

Has it really come to this already? It's a 1-1 series with both games going into OT. Finger off the panic button.

Right on the money.

One period means nothing. They have to play a 60 minute game every night, and eliminate the power play of a$$.

True enough that a bind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile but it's still one more nut found than I saw the last couple of games against Boston

I hate eating crow so I hope he plays well tonight

I don't think period one is how the rest of the series will look by any stretch. But... it does show what we are capable of. We do have many ways to put a lot of pressure on offensively. Not saying it has happened a lot yet. But to also say we are doomed based on periods 2 and 3 is a little off base as well.

Would be nice to get 19 and 88 rolling tonight....

Because most other guys are bringing something each night. Not everyone has to score, but everyone has their role. Kane's been under scrutiny as well, but he's managed 15 points in 19 games. Saad hasn't produced enough either, but at least he can play on the PK. Bolland isn't producing, and while he's seen his fair share of scrutiny at least he can play the agitator role well.
