I think more out of spite to keep him from Calgary or Vancouver

Both those teams would kill for Reinhart !

Not that I'd mind him on the Sabres, but it would have to be a short contract, and I don't see him signing less than 5 years anywhere

If we take Reinhart , I don't see it . Word is that they are in love with the Big German in Edmonton . He is exactly what they need. If we take the Big German . McTavish takes Reinhart just out of spite to Murray.

Offensively he's got two things we absolutely need, great puck possession ability and a great shot. However with his skating and subpar defence, you have to think his future will be as a winger in the NHL. I won't be disappointed if we take him though.

End of the URL says it all, supposedly 5 years and north of 5.5 million

- Sabresfan-365

I really don't see the issue with his skating. I've looked at plenty of videos of him, and it seems if anything that it is above average. He was absolutely flying at 1:35 in the video I posted above.

Yeah, I posted something earlier that I saw on another thread regarding Vancouver making separate moves to unload Kesler for parts to get to send to Florida for #1

TM choosing Draisaitl over Reinhart would be VERY reminiscent of when he decided to choose Zibanejad over Couturier.

I should clarify, I don't think his skating is particularly slow but I think his overall body of work suggests that it's not what you'd want at the centre ice position.

It's not that he can't be good at centre but I feel like the team that takes him will want him playing on the wing next too a great skating playmaker, maximize the opportunity to use that offensive flare.

When I looked back at TM's record/history, that's the first thing this draft and that pick reminded me of. It was part of why I first started thinking Draisaitl might be our pick.

However Homer believes that Reinhart is their guy so we'll see.

Its probably exactly what he was looking for, or he would wait til 7/1, since he would be guaranteed more on the market.

Too bad that would have been a great contract for the sabres.

The offseason is already a success.

The Lightning saved the Sabres from themselves.

If you buy into Travis Yost end of year analysis he did pretty well considering the limited playing time he's had.

At this point, you could make a case for either of them, which is interesting because when the pick was made people (including myself) flipped poop.
