How is that move looking a few years down the road ?
- Maximum Signal

I think that Zibanejad is going to be the better player overall, personally. I think Couturier's defensive game is overrated, and that we won't be more than a 50/55 point guy. I can see Zibanejad pushing 60 or 65, however, with a still decent defensive ability. Just my opinion.

If you buy into Travis Yost end of year analysis he did pretty well considering the limited playing time he's had.

At this point, you could make a case for either of them, which is interesting because when the pick was made people (including myself) flipped poop.

Okay , I have very limited knowledge of him . Couturier seemed to get better this year as well.

All Yost's analysis told me is that he hasn't infuriated anybody yet. Couturier is still the better player at this point in time.

The offseason is already a success.

The Lightning saved the Sabres from themselves.

The Lightning will become my second favorite team if they get it done !

If they're looking to add size, Hunter Smith is a solid option. 39th ranked North American skater, RW, 6'7" 215 lbs. would be a good use of one of the second round picks.

I think next year will be big for both of them. Zibanejad will probably take the #2 role, time for them to see if he can excel in the top 6 or not.

Couturier may be the better player as of today but it's definitely not a slam dunk like it was thought to be on draft day. I think offensively Zibanejad has/will have the edge over Couturier. By how much will determine if the pick was "worth it".

There's no danger of O'Reilly coming here, long term extension or no. Too many teams have better assets to give up. I doubt Colorado is looking for draft picks.

Hope you are right . I believe Roy and Sakic when they say they are going to get deal done to keep him there .

Not to start a fight...
But what teams give up a better package than Ehrhoff + Hodgson (or Ennis)
I think that would be our top offer for RoR

I'm starting to wonder if he wants to be in Colorado. I know it seems like a great situation to be in, but the way he's been playing his cards, I think he wants to be somewhere else eventually.

They will at least have a good Reg season
Hard to imagine them missing the playoffs unless everything goes wrong
So we'll likely be cheering for Chi or the AVs to knock them out in the 1st again
Then we'd prob get around the 20th pick

TM choosing Draisaitl over Reinhart would be VERY reminiscent of when he decided to choose Zibanejad over Couturier.
- LetsGoBuffalo75

You may be right, but boy, you need to wait until 2018 or so to know which was the better choice.

If Colorado really thought that package would be the best they could do, the trade would have been made by now I would think, especially given the fact that Buffalo's looking to move Ehrhoff, unless, of course Colorado's on Ehrhoff's "list", in which case Buffalo couldn't make that offer at all.

Max....

Don't they have to say that?
They don't want devalue what they can get back for RoR
Remember when Philly said they weren't trading Carter & Richards?
No one really knows what's going on behind the scenes

No Rivera or Jeter after this year...
Yanks are an average team now
Gonna be quite a while before the win another World Series

- jdfitz77

Jeter and Mo have nothing to do with the future and if you know the Yankees and Baseball I would beg to differ and your opinion.

They're prob still trying to work out a deal with RoR and haven't seriously started taking offers yet
The AVs still have time to work something out, which I'm sure would be their preference

Are you Max Signal, also? I swear, since we have what, 4 really good defence prospects the Last Thing we need is a d-man? Holy crap I want to scream when I read this. Yes yes yes we need scoring, skill, speed, depth up front, but give this sheet a rest.
- LandlordTom

We don't need another D man.

Buffalo.

Ennis is at the very least a 40-50 point wing/center and Ehrhoff is a 30-40 point #2-3 defensemen. That's 70 points on the low end for someone who is currently playing wing and isn't an offensive juggernaut.

People IMO under rate Ennis
