As a Leaf troll, you are certainly repeating yourself. You are an embarassment to Hockey Buzz. You cheer for a team that in the bottom five in terms of team values in the NHL. Only Arizona, Florida, Columbus and the Sabres have lower value. Moving Ottawa to a more suitable NHL location would strengthen the NHL. Love Ottawa as a city. Skating on the Rideau is great, the Art Gallery is fabulous. The Sens are an irrelevant franchise and that will change only when they are moved.

Understand. It must be so discouraging. Leaf fans have supported this Leaf rebuild over such a long period of time. It must be disheartening to see so much chaos erupting in the front office at a time when critical contracts need be decided.

All these years and finally winning a playoff round. Is this as good as it gets? Leaf fans are very transparent in their disappointment with this team and their disgust with a front office that does not seem to be able to pull it all together.

Sens fans are truly excited about the growth of their young team believing it combines a mix of skill and grit that will result in playoff success, perhaps as early as this coming year. It is nice to support a young team that is clearly on the rise. Makes us wonder if the Leafs may have already accomplished their best result and topped out on their competitive cycle. Was finally winning a playoff round the best we are going to see before they begin the downswing and the need to begin a new competitive cycle? I think a symptom of this kind of thinking is the number of fans ready to throw in the towel and trade off some of the top 4.

Leafs and Sens are Division rivals. I have always believed that regular season success requires that they finish ahead of their provincial rival. I think the same measure likely applies for Montreal against both the Leafs and Sens.

It is simply not reasonable to expect all three eastern Canadian teams make the playoffs given the current alignment of the Divisions. Only 3 top teams make it. It would take a very special year for the Sens, Habs and Leafs achieve any playoff success in the same year.

Sens fans believe they have a very young roster capable of growing into a team that can go deep into the playoffs. Leaf fans are discouraged. Habs fans are very hopeful and positive about their young team.

We understand your frustration.

As you know I do not think the Leafs are as bad as many of their fans make them out to be.

As you might well understand I am highly flattered by the attention.

I must confess I sometimes miss the angst of Leaf nation as they replay another pearl clutching summer of their own unique brand of melt down.

I do like the top end of the Leaf line up. I fear those who advocate scuttling the current version of the team are only expressing the frustration of repetitive failure. Would be unwise to make major changes at this time.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

When the dust settles, idiots like Spatso are little more than irrelevant wind bags. Its not hard to be jealous of the Leaf team when you cheer for a team that has as little going for it as Ottawa.

Leafs on current salaries have 64.1% of cap committed to their top 6 salaries (Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Reilly, Nylander and Bertuzzi).

Sens on current salaries have 52.7% of cap committed to their top 6 salaries
(Stutzle, Tkachuk, Chabot, Norris, Giroux, Batherson)

The problem for the Leafs is their top players (Matthews, Marner and Nylander) will need new deals over next few years. The relief for the Leafs is Tavares at $11m is coming off the books.

The problem for the Sens is Sanderson and Chychrun will be looking for $8m deals. The relief for the Sens is Giroux comes off the books.

Conclusion for Sens: They have a better cap management situation than the Leafs and should be able to build a deeper roster. But it would be a mistake for the Sens to pursue Nylnader. Sens avoided a bullet when they moved DeBrincat's salary out.

Conclusion for Leafs: It would be insanity for them to deal Nylander. Most of their cap problem is self resolving with completion of the Tavares contract. Leafs have little depth on their roster now. If they trade Nylander they become a one line team.

I think you are putting forward a pretty solid formula for the Sens going forward.

Most of us seem to really like the core of this team. And, although some would like for us to try and hit a home run deal, most are more concerned about our making a huge trade mistake.

Funny. We are all frustrated with the Sens not playing well enough to make the playoffs. On the other hand, we look at the players and think they are close to being able to make a run for the Stanley Cup someday soon.

I believe the Sens can be a contender. But most teams need to make core strategic moves to get to their Cup compete level. Las Vegas traded for a power forward (Stone), an elite centre (Eichel) and signed a UFA #1 D (Pietrangelo). They won a Cup. Florida got to the final by trading for Tkachuk, Reinhardt and Bennett and completely transformed the compete level in their lineup.

Too many Sens fans focus on the belief that they will improve by getting rid of someone without even thinking about what they need to get in return.

Who are the players you would keep and what players would you add into this Ottawa line up in order to make the Sens a Cup finalist?

I was thinking about the draft and then I read the roster for Team Canada for the Worlds. Yesterday I looking at the US roster with Tkachuck, Pinto and Sanderson.

It is easy to get excited about why the draft is important when you look at all the great young players who are not playing playoff hockey. Veterans teams win Stanley Cups. Young teams, like the Sens, need to be patient

As you have learned, Debrincat puts up good early season numbers but disappears after Christmas. His $8m contract looks outstanding in October. But, once the big boys start playing for real after Christmas, the little guy totally disappears.

I would be open to trading for Laine. Most important, I would want assurances from his sobriety coach that he is following a solid program. In addition, I would look to bring in a team mate like Auston Watson who could mentor him in handling the rough patch he is going to face from fans and media over the next year.

It would be a high risk/potential high reward deal for the Sens to do.

There are not many 6'5" great skaters with a big shot and quick release.

I trust Staios and his front office. They are responsible and will do the due diligence of ensuring that they acquire a top 6 goal scorer that is a good fit.

I also think PLD is a fit with Ottawa.
