Great win for the Habs. Too bad about Tavares. Good that he gave a thumbs up sign.
But I'm wondering why this sentiment has to be expressed, "This is how hockey works unfortunately… "???
Why's it unfortunate? Hockey is a violent game. Hitting and fighting are part of the entire package. This makes no sense. If you don't want fighting or violence watch golf, or bowling.
Not sure why you express this Karine. This isn't tiddly winks. It's called hockey. - MisterBrown
it's unfortunate because you can care about another human being despite it being a violent game? JFC it isn't that hard to comprehend

I know it's not tiddly winks, thanks. Look hockey is a speedy contact sport that comes with a lot of risks that's true. Some of those risks cannot be avoided but others can. Why should they be? Because we now know how dangerous hits to the head are and wherever possible they should be avoided. There has been numerous cases of goon's who have suffered so many concussion that they become plagued by CTE, have no quality of life and can't take it anymore. Too often that end with them killing themselves, think about Derek Boogaard, Rick Rypien or Steve Montador's tragic ends for instance.
In a moder society, when you discover that something is dangerous, you try to prevent the unfortunate unlucky consequences. When we started driving cars, there were no seatbells, when accidents claimed lives and someone invented seatbelts, we didn't say oh the hell with that, if you drive you just accept the risk of a motal accident, you don't need to protect yourself against that risk, that's life. When AIDS was discovered we didn't say oh well, that's the risk of having sex, we advocated for safe sex. The goal being in all cases to cary one with the activities we all like to do but without taking unecessary risks.
If you want to see people take risks with their lives, go watch bull fighting, boxing or the UFC, the aim in those sports is litterally to hurt your opponent, in hockey, the aim is to beat your opponent on the score board by scoring more goals, not by trying to kill them. Or you could perhaps think about it, pick up Dryden's book Game Change and realize that this sport you love needs to evolve before it's too late. - Karine Hains
while I agree with your comments Karine, how would you make the game evolve to the point of eliminating incidents such as last night's..?

Well, in Québec it's Patriots' Day - stinger67
In other words "we got our ass kicked in war but we still act like we won" day?
Don't you also do SJTB day instead of Canada day?
I'm surprised you don't have Bastille day.
I guess my point is they're all dumb but I'll take a day off anytime |

le pire c'est que je suis pas mal sûr que c'est une décision prise par une équipe d'éditoralistes qui ont la même "vision" |

id argue that their judgment is fine because they're getting what they want out of that cover. people are sharing it and talking about it and it's inevitably leading to more clicks for them.

It's just a shame that France decided they didn't give a poop about the Nouvelle-France anymore and left them to fend for themselves. Still, I take a lot of pride in being able to live in French and celebrate my culture. All that is because of my ancestors who fought and refused to simply be assimilated and disappear.
We have both St-Jean-Baptiste (June 24th) and Canada Day.
And yes as long as I have a day off, it could be the Queen's day, I wouldn't really give a poop. |

If Campbell doesn't go for the pokecheck, that isn't a goal.
Still, great individual effort and great puck protection nonetheless. |

Considering how Byron has been treated by the team this year, with all the waiving and benching? Habs should frame that beauty with the game puck for him, FFS. |
