Hughes confirmed that Demidov was #1 on their list (because Celebrini wasn't even in the discussion).

WHAT A DAY!

Demigod falling at 5 is crazy…but the more I look into and listen to hate…he might be the killer pick

i don't know any of the players so i can't really say. i guess they fell in love with this one player but i think they could have come up with a better trade and picked him later from the gist of what i'm reading.

Seems like for once, we drafted 2 very skilled players. Demi doc or demigod being a wow player and Hage could be one of those lane 1st impact player that comes from chez nous

true true.

i guess they're planning for a few years of rebuilding. it's good that they didn't think the early success this season was some big jump forward.

After building up our blue line, we have added another few more pieces to our offensive puzzle ... it's been a long time since I've been this excited for what our lineup might look like in a few years.

These years of mediocrity at the bottom of the standings are starting to look like it was worth it instead of being a perpetual mediocre bubble team for the last 30 years. Having competent people in charge makes all the difference.

As I've said before, I've had it with the defensive "turtle around Price" strategy we had for so many awful years ...Habs tradition (and Cups) have always been based on a solid defense and potent offense. One doesn't go without the other, no need to spend 10 mil on a freakin' goalie!

Still a lot of development to be done but we're putting the pieces together and going the right way. The Sun is finally shinning again.

Solid 1st round, Demidov slips to 5 and the Habs move up to grab Hage, excellent draft for MTL in the 1st round.

Should be a quieter 2nd day unless they trade for a top 6 F.

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun

Could have been fireworks at the top of the draft tonight. Hearing that the Blackhawks offered next year’s 1st Rd pick, unprotected, plus another pick, in return for the fourth overall pick. Believe it came pretty close but the Blue Jackets passed. They really love Cayden Lindstrom and couldn’t pass up taking him.

That's crazy

Is McKenna eligible next year? Because à shot at McKenna certainly has value. Wow.

They dont know where that pick will be vs drafting the player they want at 4. I would have done the same.

Gavin McKenna (born December 20, 2007) is a Canadian junior ice hockey forward for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL. McKenna will be eligible for the 2026 NHL entry draft and, as of December 2023, is projected as most likely to be taken first overall
