Jeff Skinner has 3 years remaining on his contract, resulting in a buyout that would span six years.

The breakdown is as follows:

24-25: $1,444,445
25-26: $4,444,445
26-27: $6,444,445
27-28: $2,444,445
28-29: $2,444,445
29-30: $2,444,445

Maybe good to sign him for cheap and have him fill the remaining top 6 void for 3 years until Demidov and Hage join

Demidov won't play next season but will probably be in MTL the year after, and with Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Dach and Newhook I'm not sure this is necessary. I'd rather give a chance to a guy like Roy than acquire an aging Jeff Skinner.

I agree with this any of roy or rhp, if we are talking about a winger.

Roy is on the other side of the 2nd line, the other side with the void is where Skinner will fill in. Newhook is 3rd line centre

that remains to be seen, not saying he's top 6 material for sure but I'm fairly certain they're gonna give him a shot and see where it goes.

if healthy, Dvorak is the 3rd line C. Newhook should start on the wing on the top 6 unless they make a move.

Whether it’s Skinner or someone else, we need to find someone to fill that void on 2nd line, if Newhook moves to 2nd then 3rd line is sub par

how so?

to be honest I don't think Skinner is the kind of player Hughes and Gorton would be looking at, and I don't really see the urgency to fill in that spot with what they already have on the roster for the time being. bygones I guess.

If Skinner comes cheap can’t see why not, he can also mentor Caufield as well and can put in 25+ goals, if not Skinner can be some other UFA for short term contract, the way the team is now is not good enough for playoffs next season

yeah, I really don't see Jeff Skinner as the habs' missing piece of the puzzle to make the playoffs next season, sorry.

we'll see what happens, there's still time for other changes/trades to be made.

they already have enough forwards as it is

Caufield Suzuki Slaf
Newhook Dach Anderson
Armia Dvorak Gallagher
RHP Evans Pezzetta

and that is not counting Roy (who is ready) and some others in Laval who could have a shot, like Heineman and Beck.
unless Hughes moves a few contracts, which we know will be very difficult to do.

I'm afraid the former is impossible, and the latter a really bad idea.
we'll have to wait for the tdl when Armia, Dvorak, Evans and Savard should be shipped out

RHP likely won’t be playing much in Montreal
