Those guys are veterans and would obviously want more years on their contract ... we can't offer that when we have a ton of prospects coming up in the pipeline.

I would think they wouldn't be interested to go to a team in construction.

- Garfield512

yeah but with the draft they've just had the habs should become a very interesting team to watch in a not-so-distant future, Demidov isn't 3 or 4 years away from playing in MTL, in fact we could even see him play a few games after he's done with his season in Russia next year. players are surely aware of the direction the team is heading, it isn't something to be scared of at all imho.

I didn't hate the guy but I feel a change was necessary lol... and they still need to find a head coach in Laval, I'm still not sure what the (frank) happened with Houle but it's kinda weird to say the least.

He already worked at Clarkson University before, it's also where he studied. He's going to be coach now and also director of the ice hockey program. It's where his wife is from, where their kids grew up. So basically he's going home

Also, probably gets the same salary as he got in the AHL, or better. Less games, less traveling. It makes sense for him. Also, being coach in the NCAA is almost as like having tenure.

huh, I was not aware of this, I was convinced it represented a major downgrade for him and his coaching career in general, so his decision makes way more sense in light of this perspective.

Like I said, I believe next summer is when we'll totally change the face of this team.

In the following years, I'm sure HuGo will fine tune what we have and then nothing is out of the question (ie. trades, UFAs).

yeah it is, but perhaps it's a more common thing in junior and college leagues, compared to the NHL where this kind of poop very rarely ever happens, I dunno.

Apparently the guy in that position just resigned. Clarkson called the Habs to get permission to negotiate with Houle.

for sure. I'm still optimistic though for the upcoming season, not sure how everything is gonna pan out but I have a feeling the habs will still be fun to watch despite not having made a whole lot of moves.
