also you're assuming the US would block commerce with Canada because of their stance on Ukraine, that is definitely not a guarantee.

Trump's administration put massive sanctions on Russia and I say his administration because even if he is a Putin puppet yellow shower bed wetter or whatever, his administration followed the exact same policies Obama and Bush did.

That makes sense. Victoria Nuland who orchestrated the coup in 2014 that put the foundation for the war wasn't a part of his admin. I think he also claimed that the sun would turn orange to show his ascendancy to God-King, but I don't think that would end up being true either.
