Also, companies don't want to make games for Xbox because Microsoft says you need to make sure they're compatible with both the X and S

People did not like the appearance of em. Especially the X. A lot thought it looked too chonky for a next gen console
- mr.peanut

the PS5 kinda looks like a high-tech binder from the future but it's still better-looking than the xbox imho.

anyway what sucks is that everything is going fully digital/virtual, and physical copies are only becoming rarer, which means companies and developers can stop supporting games or completely remove them from the market, leaving gamers with absolutely nothing, without any way or alternatives to play them.

even for music, whenever I buy an album nowadays and it's just a download of MP3 files, it leaves me wanting for something to put on my shelf, to fully appreciate the album, cover art, lyrics, etc... I really miss CDs for that.

well aren't they technically the same console, the main difference between both being the storage capacity?

I hate the digital aspect of things. Because you never really own it, especially with games. You buy a game, download it... But server is down? Can't play. Game is old? System no longer supports it. You need a new device? Sorry, your game is only for that 1 console

exactly, people are basically at the mercy of companies, developers, and servers. there's a bit of a counter-movement going on to push for more physical copies or different ways to preserve games so that they remain available for everyone once they're released but that can only go so far.

oh, well that's dumb. I get that some people are on a budget and that games can be expensive but for a 200$ difference you might as well wait a bit more and gather the extra dough to buy something that performs better.

edit: I just checked and it's actually closer to a 400$ dollar difference, which is still dumb from a game-developing perspective if you're forcing devs to make games that can run on both.

It's dumb that even with a physical copy, the system downloads the game info from the disk. But then you need to have the disk in anyway to play it. I get they want people to buy the game, but why put 90GB on my hard drive

I have the cheaper one because I really don't play enough, not so I play games that a console difference would matter

you should definitely get the mini-fridge though, that way you wouldn't have to settle for those sad room-temp beverages of yours, like a poor and lowly peasant.

yeah the required space for games now is insane, but I think that's mostly because developers are trying to cut corners and aren't optimizing the game performance like they used to.

Series X has served me well. I made the decision to be a slave to Microsoft when I got Xbox Live in 2007. Might as well live through it with a grin.
