besides the habs need Savard more than a late pick right now.
- Pat1993

sure but he is a UFA next summer. Do the HABS sign him once again or trade him to get something? asset management 101

pretty sure contenders would like to add him to their d core

if you already have a good team and wants a guy who will block shots and have cup experience, been there done that, you would be smart to add him.

so it would be a late first.

Most late first wont reach the NHL or lets say the % drop at that point

- deadpoulet

question is, why would the habs need a late pick? they have plenty as it is.

it's not for the pick, but if kids are ready... they need to make some room.
so yeah keep Savard to start the season, but at the tdl... who knows if 1, 2 or even 3 kids will be ready?

hey, if the younger guys can already log in big minutes and play efficiently, sure, they can let go of Savard. I wouldn't necessarily be counting on that for this year, but we'll see.

not this year, but do you extend Savard for 3 more years? he won't sign for 1.

ils sont déjà pas mal équipés pour faire ce genre de transaction là mais oui en effet, les choix pourraient être flippé pour autre chose.

le seul jeune avec de lexperience en defense a droite dans la LNH cest Barron et ce nest pas tres concluant.

meh, age isn't an issue for me, he isn't injury prone and seems to be taking good care of himself.

age is not the issue, his speed and skating is.
when you block shots... it's because you don't have the puck.

ideally his ice time will slightly be reduced as the younger guys get better.

and you can't have the puck all the time, shots will always need to be blocked lol.

I was looking at the PuckPedia page for the Habs and noticed Jesse Ylonen is now a RFA ... anyone think they'll offer him a new contract?

They might, but the way they've used him last season, it's pretty obvious they have very little faith in that player imho.

Maybe they let him walk, or sign him for his QO just to keep some depth around.
