They probably aren't targeting Demidov.
My guess is that they're trying to move up for Buium, Richardinson or Silayev. - Tomahawk
My response was to a post specifically naming Demidov as the target of the trade to play with Michkov.

That Suter contract was the last of the remaining insane long term contacts before the league axed them right?
I can only imagine what stupid deals the Flyers would’ve given out if that was still allowed. - hereticpride
Dallas signed Suter after Minny bought him and Parise out on the same day of their matching contracts. This was not the big one, he is already collecting buyout paycheques for that contract. Now he gets 2 buyout cheques next year, and probably retires. |

You do have to be concerned about the most recent back injury as a young guy. Lindstrom was my favorite to move up for. I understand being tempted by Demidov but that’s another winger. I’m sure a great stud winger but this just leaves us with the same problem. - roenick97
The GM who drafts Lindstrom is probably going to be viewed as a genius or be unemployed in 3 years. I respect if this is the play by Briere because if it blows up his GM career is over. As bad as the Patrick situation turned out, it was just the bust of the pick. In this situation, significant assets are attached to the pick.

Good point. I completely forgot they have the 1st pick in this draft - hereticpride
I was thinking defense for SJ but I just saw somewhere that Eiserman could be a possibility. I can’t find the tweet now but they said pairing him with Celebrini is an attractive idea and the Flyers are rumored to have heavy interest in Eiserman which is why they had to move in front. |

Have to think the roster player offered is Frost or Farabee. Glad other team said no and raking Danny over the coals.
Why would these other teams want a player that was benched last game of the season with playoffs on the line?

I wouldn't do that. Trading 2 firsts for 1 first isn't something I would do.
Not many have seen Demidov play alot. North America didn't even have his height right until recently.
Just seems like a lot to give up for a draft pick. - TheFreak
It all depends on where they see the kid they’re targeting. If they think the player is going to be a star, then it’s worth it. At 12, they may end up with a winger who is no more than a Farabee level. We don’t know which 2025 pick was offered. Let’s say they got the pick and drafted a player that becomes an elite 1C or 1D. So basically they’d be trading say two middle to top 6 wingers, and a 1st rd pick for an elite 1C or 1D. That is more than worth it. It’s all projection so there’s significant risk but it’s the only way you’re getting elite talent. |

From Brandon J. Sommermann:
“Sounds like this deal was very close to happening and could still happen. Flyers & CBJ couldnt agree on ‘25 1st rounder. CBJ wants PHI pick with minimal protections. Flyers are offering COL 1st.” |

I don't think they move multiple firsts for anything other than a potential 1D or 1C.
They'd have to be in love with the idea of Demi playing C to make that kind of trade for him. - Tomahawk
You would think….I’m hoping he can get it over the finish line. There’s a few young guys obviously off limits…but at least they realize that they need to be aggressive. |

yep...unless the market just dried up.
the flyers will be happy as hell to have him in the fold for 8 more years. my hope is tk wakes up and decides he wants to win. then forces a trade. - hello it's me 2050
Could you imagine....this place would blow up. I am sure he would be called everything Gauthier has been called, plus more.
But it would help the Flyers big times. From themselves. |

Just reading between the lines but it feels like anyone who gets picked in the top 4-5 can play right away. |

I doubt TK would be part of the CLB deal. If Briere wants to recoup a draft pick in a separate deal, seems like an obvious move. |

If Flyers have such urgency to pick top 5 why hire a coach that would surely prohibit that?

Briere didn’t hire Torts, Fletch did. Briere just didn’t fire him. I also don’t think they’re thinking about a long rebuild. |

Take off the lotto protection and make it idk, top 8 protected. Seems more than fair.
We’re talking about them moving back 8 spots in this draft. A roster player like Farabee and mid round 1st is a very nice return for that. |

It does, I’d prefer they add a 2nd or another later pick and keep it the Colorado pick. If they move their own pick they have to keep it top 10 protected. |

On top of Fletch being the guy to hire Torts, Torts hasn’t given Briere a reason to fire Torts. Last season was probably a success to an organization with a low expectation. |

I was responding to a posters trade. I think it was #12 and 32, Forest and a second or something like that.
Here:
So the move is
To CLB: Foerster, #12, #32, CLB 2nd rounder back
To PHI: #4 (Demidov)
Demidov is a winger. I don't think we would have an elite player at 12, but he would still be very good. I see absolutely no reason to trade up this year. It is all a crap shoot. To give up 3 picks, plus a 20 goal rookie player for the chance at a player...that's too much. No guarantees on 99% of the guys picked. Unless you are a Mcdavid type. We see just as many Russians flop as we do succeed, and scouts didn't even have this guys height and weight before the last few weeks. He wasn't even playing in the KHL... |

Yeah, I don’t do that trade. I also have concerns on Lindstrom’s back injury, though he’s a potential 1C. I’d look at Buium at 4. I’ve always preferred a move up for D this year and look for the 1C next year. |

A top defensive prospect would be great. But if they did it, I think it would be for Lindstrom, though. They wouldn't need to go as high as 4 otherwise. They could have a great defenseman between 6-10.
There is a reason it's #4 which interests them, unless ofc just plain nobody else is willing to pick up the phone. They're interested in the best forward after Celebrini. Otherwise, give up less and talk to Ottawa.
