Odds favorite for the next 2 drafts...they want either Hagens or McKenna, their moves are showing it. - Glak18
Yeah and nevermind what I said about Huberdeau and Kadri. Didn’t realize how old those guys are gonna be before those contracts are up. Woof. |

They just traded with Buffalo today to get up to 11 with their 2nd pick. You think they wanna do it again?
They need a lot of help. - Hesh_
Grier is obviously targeting a defenseman, leap frogged over the Flyers for a relatively easy exchange. Unless they are targeting someone like Yakemchuk or hoping for a slider...they are probably looking at the same guys the Flyers are. If they want them why wouldn't they make the moves. They already got the prize of the draft locked up. Pretty good risk to take.

GMDB being aggressive. If whoever they are targeting at 4, if Demidov or Lidstrom are Elite prospects you make the trade. If their target is not an elite prospect, stand pat. But theee is no substitute for elite talent and the Flyers lack that. |

Oh, I was saying how it screams defense a few pages ago. They have two top centers locked, and you wouldn’t do this for a swipe at Catton for a 3rd center. They wouldn’t have needed to move up from 14 to get a nice wing.
It’s defense all the way with 11, no doubt. |

I looked at Calgary's drafting history....HOLY (frank)!
There may not be a team in the league at drafting than Calgary. They hit on Keith's son then proceeded to trade him for...expensive *shakes head*.
They are no question worse than the Flyers. They don't win crap, never really in the conversation to win crap, sometimes has a surprise season here and there and pay for it with terrible draft picks.
YUCK! Looking at that makes me feel better wasting time watching the Flyers.

I hope so. Hopefully they are starting to realize this is the time to be ballsy. They don’t want to end up in another Giroux era situation where no matter what they do they’re stuck in mediocrity. Get the elite piece to put with Michkov now and build from there.
Presumably once Michkov takes off they won’t be in a position to move into the top 5 again. |

I think they view him as their future high end 2C behind Beniers as their 1C. It’s definitely worth looking into his availability though. He had a good playoff for Coachella Valley. - Schmojo
I had mentioned Wright a few months ago. I doubt he is available though.

Maybe the flyers can dump a few bad contracts on them. |

We lost Gauthier. We gain Michkov. If Briere is being aggressive, I’m all for it. |

They have 29 mil in cap room right now. I’m guessing they’re gonna end up with a couple more 1st’s over the next few years still. |

Apparently, Sarros going to be re signed for 8 years.
Btw. rumor is DeBrusk will sign with Calgary. I guess not a total stripping to the studs if that happens. |

"Well Andrew, we signed Saros for 8 years"
"Allllllright, great. But y'know we have Askarov"
"You're an Askarov"
but seriously, does that make him available? We could use him, too. He's not goin to jail, right?

Well, if the consensus is the team is lacking elite talent, position should not matter in this case.
So Demidov could be the pick. Long ago, Flyers picked Mike Ricci and passed on Jagr.
Waddell has inherited a team that has drafted 3 centers in the top 12 over the last 3 drafts. Also, CLB does not have a lot of extra picks over the next few seasons. If he does not view Lindstrom and Demidov as no doubt elite, he could move. Also, who below CLB and between the Flyers has the desire to move up? Maybe the Flames, any other team? - Trox88
The Jagr draft was similar to Michkov. Also, the Flyers didn’t think Forsberg was coming over soon enough which is a big reason he was in the Lindros trade. |

It's so dumb that they're pumping additional draft capital into moving up during a rebuild instead of just earning the higher pick outright.
(But it's also the most Flyers thing ever) - Tomahawk
100%. It’s why I was actually happy for that losing streak at the end of the season. If they had just lost out to end the season they’d be picking 9th.
My hope has always been that they get a higher pick through a TK trade not through expending significant draft capital. It has so many benefits. You get a higher pick immediately, you don’t give him a bad regrettable contract, and with him not on the roster next season they would be worse therefore ensuring a much higher pick in ‘25. |

It’s a smart strategy, there’s a chance one of the D makes it to 9 this year which could give them their 1D, then if they get one of Hagans or McKenna they’d have their core to build around.
Really wish the Flyers would for once go this route and stop with trying to rush everything. |

Report that Verheage is close to a 6yr $8-8.5m dollar deal. That means TK should be in that range too. I do say “SHOULD” but we know the Flyers… |

That’s an excellent comp. Tk will probably argue and get more because Florida is tax free |

I’d guess since it leaked the flyers won’t be trading up to 4. That’s probably been exhausted |

Yeah, I think most people had him pegged in that range. Sounds right. 8.5 is the guess I hear the most, and that seems fitting.
I’m sure he’ll ask for 10 knowing it’s too high, and he’d be cool with 9 for a few less years, but an 8x8.5 would be tough for him to turn down for security. |
