What would people give up for Askarov?
The tag will be high, but I’d wanna make an offer. We need a goalie. Askarov is young and highly talented. He’s shown success as back up, and Nashville is known for creating netmonsters over the past 20 years. - Hesh_
Are the Flyers becoming a goalie factory like the Eagles were a QB factory? |

I’d give up #32 and the lesser 1st next season for Askarov.
How far off am I? I have no clue.
Maybe Nashville would like TK in a deal somewhere? |

The Nashville factory has been working this guy for whomever trades for him, thankfully. |

I thought I did…but ok. I don’t think a long lasting strong culture can be achieved if losing continues. I thought this year was great as far as the foundation goes, but is it sustainable if they don’t get results? They need to add talent. To add talent you have to give to get.
It makes sense to me in that the time lines for other teams are different and the Flyers need to appreciate that when considering Konecny. So one step forward, two steps back…it’s not a fun process to rebuild
Question….you’ve played sports all your life, what was more fun and more memorable? The teams that won or the teams that didn’t….I’ve been on both, far to many times….and the ones I appreciate were the ones were successful. - landros 2
Much of what you wrote above seems very tenuosly related to what I am questioning. Let me focus on the only relevant thing you wrote above (in bold)
1 step forward, 2 steps back means more losing, no? How is that creating a winning culture?

really only 2 as your getting a 1st back - hello it's me 2050
No, we would still be trading 3 firsts for 1 first. That is a ridiculous price for an unproven prospect. |

Yeah if they make Askarov available the Flyers need to be in that discussion.
The price will likely be high as I think he was drafted very early for a goalie but damn that would be some acquisition. If Nashville has any interest in TK that’s a deal you really need to explore. |

He was an 11th overall, and I remember all that buzz his draft year.
His stats look pretty damn good, too. |

yes 3 1st. So as I said a loss of 2 picks as one is coming back. |

They have a number of goalies in the system now. Last year Briere moved up to take Bjarnason in the second last year and took Zavragin in the third. |

Pronman final mock has Demidov going to Calgary and Flyers taking Helenius at 12. - MBFlyerfan
He had Demidov sliding to 9 or Calgary moving up for him?
If he slides that far I can’t see how someone wouldn’t move up for him. |

Yeah, he's had to be the highest rated goalie prospect in a good 20 years I bet.
Nashville will get a very nice return for him regardless of what the goalie market is. |

I’m doing it….but I’m also trying to move Konecny, Laughton and Farabee to recoup some draft capital. I guess I want to see the full plan. If they do that they obviously think the guy at 4 is really good. - landros 2
Danny in a couple of recent interviews has said "we have 2 1st round picks next year as of now", which I thought was interesting. I do think its plausible that Danny is dangling at least 1 of next year's 1st round picks as part of a package to move up into the top 5 of this draft. Might still not be enough to get Demidov, but would secure at least one fo the best defensive prospects. |

Indeed. But they’re a ways off. This one has a higher ceiling, he’s 21, and he’s ready to start this season.
Edit - sorry. He just turned 22 less than 2 weeks ago. |

Would be nice if teams are afraid of him because of the Russian factor, because apparently the Flyers have figured it out. Still, not sure how I feel about rooting for a team full of Russian players. I ama product of the era of the Red Army team against the NHL, and that game in 1976 cemented me as a Flyers fan for life. |

The winning culture isn’t necessary until you’ve acquired your core building blocks. Both Cup finalists this year had losing cultures until they got the building blocks in place and then built around them. To get those building blocks you need to lose.
I can understand a team wanting a solid culture around young players even when they’re losing to illustrate good habits as a pro. An aging veteran who is well past their prime but had won before can show young players the importance of taking care of your body, how to prepare, being on the road, etc. I do believe there’s value in that. And it’s important to not have bad locker room guys around them. But, to have a good culture, doesn’t mean you have to go nuts and win a lot. Calling it a winning culture is taken too literally. It’s more about having a professional culture. |

Same era for me and I just want great players. I don't care where they are from. This franchise has had far too few elite players over the years and that has to change. |

I saw that….Joy one of the smart ones that thinks they should move on from TK as well. - landros 2
DB and, more importantly, KJ finding out that the best way to get a player like Demidov is to not try so hard during the season especially when you know all it will do is place you in draft day purgatory |

It’s funny, when he said that I thought, cool maybe he’ll get more! But your thought makes much more sense. |
