Hard Pass. Colorado 1st cannot be included in any trade unless they are getting back a superstar - WhiskeyMan
Why is that? Is pretty unlikely that ends up being a lotto pick. |

Habs fans will then promptly burn the city down when the team passes on another potentially elite Russian to take another defenseman
- Tomahawk
Habs always seem to pass on players that make the most sense. I love it. |

Is there something with the 36th pick going on? Wiki says CBJ owns it but people on social media are saying they haven’t decided on sending it to Philly or not yet?
I’m assuming this is something to do with the Provorov trade? |

Condition is they have to decide after the first round is complete whether they send that pick or next years 2nd rounder to the Flyers. I think most people expect them to keep the pick and send next years. |

Appleyard is pretty impartial when evaluating prospects or trades. Pretty interesting analysis. - Trox88
My evaluation of that chart, I wouldn't make the trade in retrospect for none except Makar. Makar is no question an outliner here because he became a much better player than what his draft position was.
Tkachuk sounds like a great deal, but I'm not giving up Dobson and Samuelsson for him.
Ok I would make the Marner deal as well.
Think about it, the Flyers want a 1st each for TK, Laughton and maybe Farabee, but they have to pay THREE 1sts for a player with "potential". Only time you are giving up 3+ 1st for a draft pick is if that player is above the rest of the class (like McDavid, Stamkos, Dahlin).
If that trade proposal was for Celebrini then I'd do it, otherwise that goes down as an incompetent GM.

Thanks. Ok that’s what I figured. Yeah, makes more sense for them to keep this year’s being so early in the round.
Just give the pick back to them as part of a return for 4th overall lol |

Columbus has to decide whether they give this year's 2nd after the 1st round ends. If they keep it then Flyers get Columbus's 2nd next year.

Briere spoke of this at one of his most recent pressers. I’d assume they just keep as well. 36 is pretty good draft position. |

Your starting to sound like your president… super confused… why am I no surprised. - landros 2
Sir, your energetic efforts to repeatedly inject politics for no reason at all have been duly noted. You needn't persist
In the meantime, may I point out that a man who objected to transliterating scene for sense should spend more guarding against repeatedly replacing "your" for you are? |

Sure but if they’re better next season, would the second round pick become better than 36 next year? I just assume they use 36 tonight. |

No I don’t… because my premise is pretty simple. F culture if it’s not sustainable if you can’t win. To win they need more talent… you seem on edge today… what’s the deal? |

That is the subjectivity. If as a GM you believe Lindstrom or Demidov are an outlier like Makar, you do the deal. That's why this is a very ballsy move by Briere. If he is wrong, his career as a GM is done within 3 yrs. He won't get hired as a retread GM because he was the GM who gave up a haul for Nail Yakupov.

You really are ass sometimes…instead of focusing on grammar maybe focus on the general premise of one’s statement… you seem in an argumentative mood. I am going to move on… I think I’m done with “your” temper tantrum. |

The smart move for Columbus is use the 2nd tonight, but I don't think it's going to make much of a difference. Plus the draft is a bit deeper next year, so #40 could end up better than #36 this year. No one knows until it happens though. |

If the deal seems super risky, it's probably not going to end up well, but some times you have to take the risks.
All we can do is wait 5 years and critique the move or non-move.
Guaranteed if the player that ends up being pick at #4 becomes a star, Flyer fans will bring up this rumor...even though that player they would pick is not the same player. It's a foolish game.
I'm looking at the players available, all of them, and who would I give up 3 1st round picks for....Celebrini. That's it. I wouldn't give up 3 1st round picks in 2023 to select Michkov, but Bedard I would have.

At the end of the day the position of the picks will likely be similar. They aren't going anywhere w/ Elvis in goal and leaning on Provy for 22-25 mins a night.
Probably will just come down to who's left on their list tonight. |
