Drury is younger and has almost matched McCloud point wise and he's already 54% on the Dot

Playing for Brind'amour does that. You don't get to take faceoffs if you're not going to win them more often than not.

Look at it another way. Winnipeg is supposedly asking for 3 Savoies and something else for Ehlers. The price for Zegras or Necas is going to be similar. I am shocked that some of you think that Savoie is more than he is: a middle 6 PROSPECT.

(it also isn't lost on me that we are in some bizarro world where I am arguing to trade the prospects and others are trying to put on the breaks)

The overwhelming consensus falls in the category of this is very bad value for Buffalo.

Time will tell.

I asked the people at CapFriendly a while ago about Jokiharju, and they said his Chicago season does not count towards his UFA eligibility.
- kingcong39

Think Ghofrani said a while back that he asked them and they said the opposite.

CF shows him as UFA after this deal.

So can I quote you on "time will tell" as you repeatedly predict the team's demise in every single post?

Anyway....

I saw ridiculous comparisons with this trade, including Forsberg for Erat. Really stupid stuff. Mcleod's underlying numbers are really impressive, and he did just score 3 goals in the finals while still growing. I think both sides did well.

I never depicted the demise with this trade?

Up until now Adam’s offseason had been woefully underwhelming.

I thought Savoie would have more value, again who knows.

How's that ? McLeod has played double the NHL Games Drury has. Drury has basically matched him Offensively and is quite a bit better on the Dot.

They are the same age……

NHL games played shouldn’t really matter.

No, not with this trade. Just in general, of course.

I don't think any of the prospects have huge value. I think we have 6 or 7 guys that have a middle 6 ceiling - that certainly isn't getting you an established 2nd liner.

I think Adams is one trade away from having a very good offseason. If he overpaid a bit for a couple of guys, so be it. As we've seen, it is expensive to shop right now. That's why teams like the Rags and Leafs have been locked up.

Drurys numbers are really good.

Carolina may not want to move him.

They moved a free 2nd for a 4th liner and a guy who was jumped by a few of our own prospects for a young 3C who is one of the fastest players in the league.

There are a few ways to look at it. The Sabres got players that fit their mold of how they want to play (fast and faster) who are both cost controlled (we will see what Malenstyn will cost) for a pick they got for free and a prospect that they felt didn’t have a path in Buffalo.

The team is better on paper today than it was yesterday. They will probably finish higher in points than they did last year. I still don’t think it’s enough for the playoffs though.

Honestly, I just don't see it. I think we gave up a lot for a little all off-season. If that trend continues the pipe will be gone quick without having acquired any high impact players at all. McLeod is a 3-4C to me and doesn't move the needle much. We need a big time point getter and you just traded away one of your best chips.
- RhinoFan

NHL GM's don't agree with that.

Big players that can skate are currently valued more than small wingers.

Should of traded him when Marchy won the Conn Smythe.. his was vlaue would of been really high... oh wait his shoulder was hanging by a thread

Weren't there a few just saying these developed prospects were worth much more than we think?

This is catastrophically bad value.

- Lunaion

Yeah, some dude on this site named Taco was claiming that, but it wasn't reality.

You and I have been clamoring for moves to be made for 2 seasons now, due to this very reason.
