Here is the problem. Tell me that he was the BPA in their view and why. Don't tell me they didn't draft Buium because they have Drysdale, York and Andrae. - MJL
That is exactly what I am saying. Personally, I can't even pretend to step into the triumvirate's collective thought processes. To me it was an easy pick to make... and DB's comments on why they passed is even more questionable..

How is anything he said from elite Prospects? You have stated this as a comeback multiple times this week, and it appears to be wrong. - TheFreak
Tell me where then you and others are getting your information that Luchenko would have been there at pick 20. |

Yep, another rebuilding move. Brutal!

The problem I have with your assessment is you are basing it all on the elite prospects rankings, which is nothing more than fantasy. Beckett-Sennecke was ranked 13th and he went at 3. Buium was ranked 4th and he went 12th. Luchenko was ranked 20th and he went 13th. Is this really a reach? I think not! Would Luchenko been there if the Flyers were picking 17th? I don't know and niether do you. There is eveidence that Luchenko would have been gone before 20 if the Flyers did not select him. The Flyers wanted a center and they took the center they believed was the best option given they could not trade up, its really that simple.
As far as Briere, you are right, he has done squat so far. I don't know yet if he is a smart executive or not. I am just not going to come on here and bash Briere when the off season has just started, and he has done some good things already, like accumulating 6 picks in the frst two rounds of the next draft - something rebuilding teams do.
I presume Eric Johnson is there for depth and to hepl the younger players adapt to the NHL. Signing him actually gives me encouragement that more young players will be on defense for the Flyers this season. - jd250
Have you ever seen Lachanko play? Like once?

The only players traded off the roster in this "rebuild" are Hayes, Provorov and Walker.
The team is actually getting older!

I suppose you think signing an extension for Hathaway screams rebuilding as well…😂😂😂 - landros 2
So in your mind if a team is rebuilding, they should never have any veteran players (28 years old or older) on the team, is that it?
I think it signals that when the Flyers find good players that fit into the culture they want to build and play the way they want to play, they extend them. I like Hathaway as a hockey player, and I don't mind the signing. I would however like to see the Flyers start trading some veteran players also. |

IMO, any team in a rebuild should draft the BPA and not for need. Maybe it is bc Danny is a neophyte as a GM and he is still learning on the job. Maybe it works out... who knows. - Flyfly
Make no mistake…of course I’m hoping they got a good one. I will look forward to watching him….I will get over to Guelph and see him a few times I’m sure. The one game I saw him live last year…I thought he was ok…but my focus was on Barkey and. Bonk. |

Wouldn't a rebuilding team at least TRY and get something for him at the TDL move? There was no reason to sign him to an extension at this time.

There it is, he fits into the culture. Nice use of Flyers buzzwords. You now have earned your Flyers kool aid card.

Why the fuq do you keep saying everything someone’s says is based on elite prospects rankings? Do you not get that when talking about the roughly top 10 prospects it’s not just ep but almost EVERY REPUTABLE SOURCE THAT ANYONE CAN LOOK TO.. beyond roughly the top 10 is where you see more and more movement upon rankings.
Stop trying to shoot down what’s widely accepted and maybe learn how to research so you can come to a more educated rational conclusion. Then you can argue from a somewhat logical point of view |

of course you don't. not one person thought you would. there is that culture word again. why the urgency to sign him now? can you help me understand that?
they have enough vets on the team. this team isnt as young as you want to believe. |

A team full of vets… again I like the player…but don’t sell it as a rebuild…because it’s not. Big deal they’ve used cap space to acquire a couple extra draft pick? Looks more like the Hextall retool…not a rebuild.

Riddle me this.
How about you don't extend him. Trade him at the deadline for assets. Then if he wants to come back you sign him to a new deal?
What's the need for an extension now? If I moved Hathaway, are there no similar players out there for maybe less money or term or cheaper? |

I think a lot of people think it's an attack on Luchanko, he is what he is and that's it, but it's an attack on the decision and reasoning.
I think every Flyer fan wants every draft pick to become a star, but realistically it's not going to happen.
The problem with the Flyers is they keep playing Ice Hockey and choosing the middle guy for all their players and are getting DESTROYED because of it.
