It’s gotta be such a bummer being a kid playing for the Phantoms. Flyers are always signing or re-signing these bottom six guys instead of seeing what they’ve got in the system. |

I don’t mind the signing…
Very next sentence
I however would like to see them trade some vets
Lmmfao. What vets? They keep signing them to extensions. Lmmfao - Stayin alive
That’s a Rebuild Flyer style….oh wait they did add draft picks for next summer. |

You’d like to think after what Zamula and Brink did last year that there’s still opportunity…but I’d like to see some younger guys get in the lineup next year as well. |

Who cares if he would or wouldn’t have been? There was a potential 1D available. Fell into their laps. You’re rebuilding. You take that player 110% of the time. Bad teams make decisions like that. It’s why they stay bad.
And then to admit that they drafted based on need is even worse. And then they proceeded to do it for the next 6 rounds. Their draft has been bashed by most every analyst. - Flyers1218
You are not taking into account that perhaps the Flyers scouts did not feel Buium is a potential 1D. Because if they did then I agree with you, it was a bad move by Briere to pick a 2C over a potential 1D. In the end, I don't see dominant, elite 1D in Buium, I just don't. |

Based on my limited knowledge of what I read about him and the gut feeling I get. I think Jett is going to be a pretty good player for the Flyers. However I don't get the feeling that he is going to be an all star level player or has potential to be elite. Maybe he has those hidden variables that are missed and he becomes a stud. Who knows. However when I read up on Buium, there are skills and talents that pop out that says with some of those elite skills, he can be a difference maker. It's the thinking process of how they went about it. Why they said they passed on Buium. I feel they passed on a potential top pairing puck moving transition defenseman, so incredibly important in today's NHL game for a potential strong 2nd line center. - MJL
Fear not….. andre is on the way!!!! |

Truly mean no disrespect but why do we even care about what Pitt does at this point? Are you hinting at the addition of Hayes? If so may I remind you that the Flyers are paying him to be on Pitt. - Flyfly

Let's look at this another way, please define what your definition of a reach is. I contend that if a player was ranked in the top 20 (which Luchenko was) and a team picks that player at 13, that is not a reach. If the Flyers had picked say Jack Berglund with the 13th pick, I would then say with no hesitation that was a reach. |

He’s a solid prospect and @17 has a ton of room to get better and develop. I don’t like him a 12-13…but that doesn’t take away from what he is. They’re 2nd best prospect, only behind Michkov. (Maybe 3rd behind Bonk). - landros 2
Ya, I was going to say I think Bonk is ahead of him also. |

We won’t draft 1st overall. You don’t have Torts behind the bench and expect to finish dead last. He is good at taking bad teams and squeezing them for all they have. Unfortunately for us, we have just enough to squeeze to finish in the middle of the pack.
Even if we did finish last, the NHL wouldn’t let us win the lottery with the way we handle our team and their refusal to grasp new ways of thinking in the NHL. |

If you take a guy that most of the scouting world has pegged as a decent kid with 2C or 3c potential over a kid that has a decent chance at being a top pairing d …that’s a reach. Oh wait we don’t get along with his agent…nevermind. |

The Philadelphia Flyers completed their first round of the 2024 NHL Draft, and, well, it was a shocker, to say the least. They made the most surprising pick of the night by taking Jett Luchanko with their 13th overall selection, who was a second-round graded player by many. With arguably the best defensive prospect that we have seen in the last few seasons, Zeev Buium, miraculously on the board but the Flyers choosing to trade back a spot, this was definitely a questionable decision. |

If their scouts didn’t see that potential they should all be fired!!! The potential is obviously there. You can argue you don’t think he reaches that potential because of xyz but to deny the potential is moronic.
And they stated they passed on him because they already have similar small sized dmen which is just as moronic as zeev more than likely will be better than all 3 of the players they referenced.
But surely go ahead suck them off. Just makes it more funny in a few years when your belly full of flyers jism and you have to come on here and yet again admit how you were wrong.
All the while never learning |

Then the Flyers scouts would be in the vast minority. But what has this organization done in the last decade to make us doubt them? I can’t think of anything. |

But wait, most of the scouting reports you read were from the first half of the season. Luchenko had a monster 2nd half of the season and had a monster combine. So what scouts saw at the start of the season would have been very different to what they would have seen by the end of the season. I think Luchenko has the potential to be a 1C, otherwise the Flyers would not have picked him over Buium and Helenius. I think its fair to track all three players and see what happens. And hey, if Helenius and Buium turn out to be better players than Luchenko, I will be the first to say Briere eff'd up. But right now, I can't begin to think that way. I trust Flahr and his scouts. |

Thank GOD Hathaway is extended. I was worrying that this would hang like a heavy cloud over the team for the whole season. |
