Is Colton Dach still around? I guess KD sees no NHL future for him.
- LAHawk

Or he thinks Dach needs more time in Rockford.

I guess this means the Hawks expect Levshunov to go back to Michigan State (barring a trade).

Brodie is cooked. The pace of the playoffs was too much for him. He was scratched and deservedly so.
- Elbows15

But he’s not going to be playing in the playoffs. He’ll be playing in the 24-25 regular season. And his position could include time as the press box defenseman. He’s a placeholder. When one of the young guys shows he’s ready, Brodie is out.

It’s going to be fun watching the grown-up version of TT in a Hawks sweater.

I could see AA moved during camp when other teams see their roster on the ice. He’s more valuable to a team with playoff aspirations.

As BB posted, Dach swill have to earn a big league spot and there is exponentially more competition for one than an Entwhistle or the Johnsons. ......

The Dach types will not only have to up their games to get to the bigs they'll have to improve/stay healthy just to hold on to a RKF roster spot as the prospect spigot has been spun wide open and will get 3-4-5 prospects coming each yr for the next 3ish yrs.

The folks up in RKF are gonna see some good fun hockey for the foreseeable future. Maybe even some deep playoff runs.

Then why the 2 year contract? I think KD was bidding against himself on this one.

I do think the NTC and NMC will be there once we start resigning our guys who we drafted, but you are right and glad you pointed it out. I think we are seeing a GM who is cautious which is nice. The team can look a lot different in 2-3 years time when the young guys are approaching their prime.
- breadbag

For sure, superstars are always gonna get money, term and NTC's. It's just the cost of doing business. These kinds won't hurt you it's the middle of the pack guys given too much term, money with NTC's that break the camel's back.

Haven't read anything but it seems to me for the most part the league's GM's are getting better at handing out NTC language.

Dach did not have a good year last year. I think he was penciled in RFD's lineup regardless. A couple injuries and when he came back struggled quite a bit. Hopefully, the concussions have not ruined him.

Maybe Murphy is done? Only thing that makes much sense to me. I know he came back at the end of last year, but he was shelved for the last game or two I believe because the issue re-appeared.

I think the TT and Brossoit additions were exactly what the Hawks needed. The Bertuzzi move was solid too.

But most clubs with playoff aspirations don't have the space for AA's 4.2 per cap hit........ AA is what he is but his ability to play some kinda NHL center is valuable to the Hawks who really only have 1 legit NHL centerman right now, D!ckinson.

As the roster is today my guess is AA plays center for the Hawks next yr.

Hawks are officially over the roster limit (with Slaggert, Soderblom, and Nazar listed) so they definitely will be moving some guys around/down.

I have to agree with some here, I see some trades happening.

Ya like why not a Martinez deal - 1 yr and a bit more money. Or better still, don't sign him at all.

Maybe this is leading to another signing by KD - Marc Giordano. If they send KK to Rockford the Hawk D group would be pushing 35 average. Connor would be thinking he's playing in his father's oldtimers league.

Yep, he was held out of the final game of the year because he tweaked something again. That was very concerning in my books that he couldn't just play one last game and I think they played it with 5 dmen instead. He might be headed to LTIR depending on how things go this season.

From the outside looking in - I agree that a 2nd year for Brodie is difficult to understand. However, until I see a pattern of bad decisions from KD and the gang - I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they had a good reason.

I don't know what KD will do, but I could see Kurashev as one being moved.

He had some chemistry with Bedard and some ups and downs last year, but being 24 and struggling in his own end could be enough to see them move on. I've been pulling for this guy since day 1, he has some skill and tools in his kit to play at the NHL level, but the complete game just isn't there. The thing about him, after putting up some points last year, his value might be the highest it will be.

It’s so on brand for being a Hawks fan and wondering who is going to play 2C. Seriously, it’s a question that has been asked for decades.

I can't think of a time that has ever happened with a top 10 pick that played in the NHL one whole season and then is sent down.

*smiles mischievously*

Barry Trotz went out of his mind signing guys today. In a couple of years he is going to have a bunch of 38 year old veterans. Don't know if they were no trade or move deals but Nashville better win quick.

I’m also surprised by the Brodie signing, especially a two year contract, but if it gives the kids an opportunity to further develop, then that’s a good thing. Also, even in his declining stage, he’s still better than Megna, Tinordi, and Zaitsev. Without the aforementioned, they can hopefully reduce Jones TOI to a more reasonable 20-22 minutes a night, which should make him more effective. Defensemen get hurt, they now have more depth.

I had such low expectations for Zaitsev when the Hawks acquired him - he turned out not to be horrible - just bad - so I was pleasantly surprised.
