No but saying Hayes told him he’d “stay there as long as possible” doesn’t really bode well for the capitals - kinda hints he wants to exercise his rights and become a UFA.
Maybe he just wants to win once with Boston. Or maybe he’s just saying that.. - anti-lame
No top prospect wants to spend 4 years in college. There’s ZERO chance of that. ZERO. There’s simply too much risk of injury and too much money left on the table by not turning pro.
He’s doing it perfectly. He’s not top 3 talent from draft. Those maybe do 1 year college then turn pro if not straight to nhl. Other top 5ish or so prospects should do 2 years college or go overseas in a men’s league (Europe) to develop then start elc. |

I didn’t get that at all from the article. He wanted to go back for next year to win the college championship. - bird_dog_pa
He said from get go plan was 2 years college then turn pro. He was surprised they offered elc after 1 year |

Unless someone told him DC is a sh!thole and he’s better off leaving some early money on the table in order to choose where he lives his life. Otherwise why leave Boston if you love it?
I’m not saying he’s jumping ship. I just think it’s hilarious he came out and said Kevin Hayes told me to do this. Did Kevin Hayes pull that as a player? Oh yeah, he did lol

Actually would be perfect for Buffalo. It’s exactly what they need. But idk what db would want back. |

Because he’s leaving 3 years of money on table plus taking risk of injury and getting nothing.
There’s simply too much money involved now. This isn’t 20 years ago when wheeler did it.
He will play the season in college and sign his elc in March and play a few nhl games burning tear 1 of elc.
If he stays in college all 4 years by the time he gets to new team he will be just starting his elc.
By that time he’d be passing up going into his 2nd contract. Where real money is made. Top 10 prospects going into 2nd contracts make good money. At minimum even if he bridge deals he’s gonna get what? 2/3 year’s minimum? 3/4 mil minimum ? So he’d be losing 5-10 million minimum by staying in college 4years and taking the risk.
Zero chance anyone does that with the money involved. College poon is good but not that good. 2years of partying and pooning it up is enough |

i agree with you the plan was 2 years, go back and win with Boston. Will Smith probably wants to go play with Celebrini right away while Leonard would be avoiding the slog that is an entire season catering to Ovie's record. Maybe Ovie breaks it and retires. New era for Leonard to step right into.
or maybe, just maybe, living in DC sucks that bad

Honestly I think they are talking. I listen to Buffalo radio (obviously I live here) and reading seeing db pressers and flyers pods and stuff it sounds like db is trying to land center or dman. Tk not signed could be the piece. If db was 100% serious they see tk being there long term in Philly fashion they would’ve paid him already. Why you working on brink deal then. Work on tk. It just not philly way.
Buffalo has tons of options in trade. But do you give up powers? Or cozens? That’s who I’d think db would want. Dahlin and Thompson obviously not being moved. Or is some form of savoi and wingers? Or picks? Is it tk and laughts or just tk or just laughts? Both gms said the other day they were working on deals and if something were to happen it would probably be within a week. That’s strange it was like they were talking to each other through the media |

If Buffalo makes that move they’re going all in so it’s gotta be picks/prospects and if they’re looking to be playoff bound I’d much rather prospects than picks. They have a ton of center depth in their system so there would be a lot of possibilities. Savoie or Kulich would probably need to be the centerpiece.
The big concern with Savoie is that he’s only 5’9” and light framed so I don’t think he’s gonna solve any center problems for us. I can’t see how he doesn’t transition to wing at the NHL level. |

Also another thing remember db was rumored to be working on a few deals before draft but it rumored to depend on how things shook out.
It’s come out whatever deal with Ottawa went capute with the Ullmark trade as pick 24 was involved. Db had several deals going.
Maybe Buffalo talks were close but on hold. Makes sense.
And Buffalo needing top 6 winger and 3c. And NOT getting either in free agency is telling and strange. They had 30 mil in cap space and could easily have thrown can’t refuse contract to at least fill 1 of those spots but didn’t. And again Monday night Adams is talking about still trying to work out deals? On first day free agency? Kinda tells me he’s close to something getting done. Then the comments today about players STILL there with teams not traded yet? Well necas and pinto signed so not them? Who the hell else that’s good is out there? |

Yeah that’s what there worried about now in Buffalo. Is savoi to be counted on as 3c this year. Needing playoffs they don’t want to do that.
And buying out skinner opened wing. Can’t count on benson 2nd year to fill that.
They are too young as a team.
But db idk do you take savoi? That’s risky. Like you said he might not play up in lineup at center. Have to go to wing. Kinda like Jett projects.
That leads to db not filling 1c spot so look to 1d ? Dahlin out. Gotta be powers. Buffalo has more d coming too plus cap. Powers could be moved. In the right deal.
Idk |

Krebs is same as savoi. Not a 1c. And savoi better. Likely anyways. I don’t think krebs is what db looking for. Unless maybe idk picks involved and krebs the throw in. There’s just so many ways to go because Buffalo has tons of high prospects and young players. |

They filled the bottom 6 positions and vet goalie. 4 spots. But not the top 2 needs. That’s just crazy. And during first 3 days of free agency. Makes no sense.
No way they go with this lineup and count on rookies to fill it out. They have to be close to a trade. Especially with all that cap money.
Next year I think they have like 38 mill cap space and everyone locked up long term except Quinn/peterka/byram. That’s like maybe 20-25 mil at the most. Still leaves them like 15 mil or more. Easily could take tk and extend and laughts if they want. It’s crazy. |

See I don’t think they would want to move any D men already playing the NHL right now if they’re going for it. To me Kulich would have to be the centerpiece. Is he a future 1C? I’m not sure. He sounds like he plays a strong game all over the ice… But I’d feel a million times better about him being the future 2C over Jett. |

Yeah I think that might be holdup. I think db trying to fill 1c or 1d. Buffalo has Johnson coming too. Plus Buffalo just got byram. Idk is tk and laught package worth a 1d? Powers did go 1st overall. Is he gonna be a stud? So many questions.
Does db take a kulik or savoi or Rosen what if benson put in or Quinn or peterka. |

Kinda lends a little credence to the story about Hayes influence with Quitter. Doesn’t prove it to be true but certainly suggests the possibility that the reporter might have been in the ballpark.
