First game on an NHL rink. I’m sure there’s some adjustments to be made. But, he’s got legit skill which is something the isles lacked….and they gave up nothing to add said skill.

100% great pick up for the Islanders. 31 other teams would have wanted him no question. Just hope he can tighten the defensive part of his game. Offensively he’s there but that’s just part of the game.

Edit: just saw the pass. Nice play good vision.
He definitely looked more comfy as the game went on.

Nice to watch hockey again.
I thought Pelech was real sharp. Nice to see Mayfield not a step behind. It is pre season but he was solid and nice to see after last year.
Wally looked like Wally.
On the Devils side. Markstrum looked good in net.
The whole kissing keefe’s ass with the sprint to spaces and spots BS. What team or player doesn’t do that?

Taped it and his give away on the Devils first goal was bad

His skating appeared slow in the 1st period. However, as the game progressed, he appeared to improve greatly. He definitely has some good hands.

Would be interesting if Tysplakov works on that first line and Duclair takes the 2L

Not sold that his skating will be able to keep up with Bo and Barzy. I would like to see more of him first. I think duc's speed fits better at this point.

Wahlstrom just doesn’t appear to have “it”. It’s the Dal Colle syndrome. It feels like you’re always waiting for him to break out but it’s the same old same old. Reminds me of the old saying “when people show you who they are, believe them”

I agree with you and I think that’s the plan to have 11 as 1LW. Just saw the hands of 7 last night and he’s intriguing. That pass last night was Bailey esq (forgive me). That could be a really nice PP1 piece. I’m intrigued.

Is there a better place we can do this on? Besides the fact we don’t have a blogger, I get malware warnings almost every time I come on here now.

I spend most of my time on https://www.lighthousehockey.com/. for reasons you mentioned.

Interesting take. Could be the move for the future. However, I still believe Lou is very much in control.

From a reader interactive point of view, I have to agree. Maybe one of you guys can be our next Blog Writer. Heck there are enough people in here with a point of view. We could even do a reader's blog. We set the subject and just discuss. I mean we are already doing it. LOL

I find it comical Shelley when he did write something it get a total of 8 responses on both blogs. We are keeping a blog from July with over 385 responses. I think he has the fan base priorities mixed up.

The reality is age is a factor for Lou. I do think there’s some credence to a changing of the guard so to speak. Roy making that comment revealing Sorokins back surgery is 100% against Lou’s policy…..not that I actually know, but I do know that Lou doesn’t believe in loose lips

It makes sense Barry wanted more say in player moves. Would not be a surprise if Patrick takes over as GM sooner rather than later.

It’s an interesting idea for sure. I think if that does happen the isles need a “John Davidson type” as president of hockey operations.

I'm thinking Patrick would give up coaching.

I prefer him as coach to GM if given the choice. For now at least.

I was thinking who out there would fit the bill. Is there anyone with Islander ties. Two names came to mind Patrick Flatley old school and Thomas Hickey new generation. Trying to think outside the box.

I don’t want someone with islander ties. I want the best person for the job. One name that always comes to mind that’s never been front office is Messier. Wonder why? Not saying he’s a fit for the isles or would even consider it, but he’s of that Yzerman ilk, and never got hired. 🤷‍♂️

Full year with this squad, with some new additions, and a bounce back year for a few and the isles should be middle of the pack.

If all these things happen they should be better than middle of the pack in my honest opinion.
They were middle of the pack with Lame Brain as the coach for 3/4 of the year.
