Idiots
Just think in 3-4 years, they’ll have nearly 23 million tied up in a 2nd line wing a bottom 6 center and a fading 2nd pairing Dman.
The laughingstock of the NHL strikes again.

How much would a free agent second line winger of TK skill cost in 3-5 years? - WhiskeyMan
Maybe cheap if I draft right and develop that winger

Who knows. The 2nd line RW spot should be a lower cost prospect anyway considering they preemptively signed Tippet long term too.
I’d love to hear what their plan at center is with all this money tied up in wingers and jack poop in the system for centers. |

Briere has been GM for just over a year, and has already signed four right handed right wingers to extensions. So much for building down the middle.
Konency - 8 x $8.75m starting 25-6
Tippett - 8 x $6.2m starting 24-25
Hathaway - 2 x $2.4m starting 25-26
Brink - 2 x $1.5m starting 24-25
Foerster is also eligible for one that will start in 25-26. |

Michkov is gonna be the next Rick Nash. Wasted on a terrible franchise. At least Columbus had expansion as an excuse. |

Will probably need a trade to have success, like Eichel.

The amount of years & money this team has tied up on non elite and, in some cases, flat out bad players is stunning. |

Was never a rebuild and this is the nail in the coffin to anyone that said it was. Good game. - StepfordSam
They won’t ever not try to sell tickets. NHL is a gate driven league. Thinking this team would tank and give up money for multiple seasons was always a pipe dream. |

It's a rebuild on the fly. 🪰 They will add expensive FA when they are rid of all their dead money. |

Then they put those players in charge once they retire and they don’t aspire to do any better.

Briere's going to lock so many people up to 8 year extensions that it will take the person who replaces the person who replaces him to make any changes.
Contractwise, it was approx what everyone thought. The length is what it was always going to be. There goes $9 mill/yr of that "cap space" that everyone keeps telling me they are going to have. |

is it though? imagine having at least 5 trade chips. you ext 4 of them and refuse to trade the other one. |

The team is not good enough to win playoff rounds or qualify for it. And a Pittsburgh like meltdown tank is not part of Comcast or the Alumni ideology. So the nomansland existence is here to stay. |

Probably, but what are the odds they'd tie up a quarter their salary cap in right wingers?
It's crazy that don't mind going to the salary cap for a bad team but they won't lose gate money by not spending to the salary cap and rebuild?
I would think it's cheaper to rebuild + playoff revenue? You arrive at the numbers differently but whether you lose gate or lose salary, it's the same on the spreadsheet. |

Konecny's signing was a given as soon as Michkov coming here became a certainty.
They have a chance to make major moolah over the next few years, marketing Michkov's flash, Tort's tantrums, and what is very likely a playoff team with TK. Michkov will score some flashy goals, Hathaway and Nic D will be encouraged to fight, TK will yap, Hilferty will be busy laying the financial groundwork for the joint ventures with Phillies.
They can get 5 years of packed, absolutely roaring stadiums out of this, and in business, 5 years is an eternity.
The Flyers are a highly competent business franchise. They ain't stupid, fellas. I am afraid that would be y'all. |

Laughton extension is next summer’s entertainment. The dysfunction is a gift that keeps on giving the whole year. |

(frank) I wouldn’t be shocked if they try to make him a center with how stupid they are.
They could’ve played TK on the 2nd line this year too and his number would’ve undoubtedly come down. Instead pay him 1st line money to be your future 2RW. Absolute (frank)ing clowns. |

It’s not forward thinking at all but it is what it is. They now have put themselves in a position where they can’t miss at the draft. It’s not impossible to build a Stanley Cup winning team now but they won’t be able to weaponize cap space anymore. |

no it was given long before that. not very likely at all a playoff team anytime soon. |
