The bottom line: Although Kolosov has NOT given assurances that he is definitely reporting for training camp in September, the opposite is also true. The player has never told the Flyers that he is not planning to come nor has either Kolosov or the Dinamo Minsk organization asked the Flyers for permission to break the second year of his entry-level NHL contract. The organization is adamant that Kolosov never told the Flyers has was not planning to return to Lehigh Valley after his three-plus week stint near the end of the 2023-24 season.
As with everything else Kolosov related, unless Kolosov makes a statement or someone has spoken directly to Kolosov, this is all speculation. The FO has shown that they will lie about players (and feign ignorance) when it is convenient.
This could be accurate but the Flyers have earned the right not to be given the benefit of the doubt. |

Travis Sanheim :
“I hadn’t talked to him, only thing that I had heard was the development [camp], not wanting to be there, so obviously as a player in this locker room, that was something that stayed with us.
For as long as I know, you show up to development camp whether you skate or not.
I think if he doesn’t want to be here, we’re happy to move on and get the pieces that we did.”
If you didn't know who Sanheim was talking about, would you think Kolosov would be welcome in that locker room after he "overslept" and didn't show? |

wonder if they now regret giving Ivan that 2 year guaranteed deal for all that cash. |

Kolosov has to be slightly miffed that Fedotov got paid and was basically handed the NHL backup role. Meanwhile Kolosov is all but guaranteed to be in Allentown making low six figures.

That was all about the Flyers playoffs hopes fading. You have to wonder how that would've played out if the flyers weren't desperate.
https://www.nytimes.com/a...lyers-playoffs-offseason/
Up until that day, it was tough to gauge just how much value those in charge of the club were putting on making the playoffs.
Briere, though, plainly indicated over the next 18 minutes that, yes, it was a priority. He uttered the word “playoff” or “playoffs”
five times over that span, while appearing confident that the team — 33-23-8 at the time — would qualify. |

Personally, if that is the issue, I think Kolosov is out of line.

why is he out of line? he wants to compete for a spot where they have basically said there is no competition. |

I agree. I also do not think Fedotov should be handed the role either. |

Can't really blame him if he'd rather go home and make more money and be more comfortable in his limited time as a hockey player.
Just because they drafted him doesn't mean he really owes the Flyers anything. |

I don't know, Fedotov is 27 and will be 28 in November. He is already coming from the KHL as an established goalie in that league.

I get he is older and more established internationally. Not sure how that earned him the contract he received and basically being locked into a backup role in the NHL. Unless the Flyers are going to carry three goalies at some point Fedotov is a lock as the backup.

The explanation I read was that his KHL salary was in the same ballpark when you take in to consideration of the exchange rate. I cant confirm that because there doesn't seem to be a site (that I can access) where his KHL salary is listed. (Im behind a firewall that blocks Russian based websites) |

He signed a contract so he does, same as Fedotov when he didn't want to come over.

First Gauthier, then Fedotov, and now maybe Kolosov. Do any other teams have this much trouble getting their prospects to want to play for them? It just feels every year it's something. |

In the end it may not matter much. But right now the Flyers have two non NHL level goalies dictating terms to them. Not ideal to say the least. Hopefully one of them is worth the hassle. |

Because he wanted to be thrown in a van, poisoned and forced to join the military days after signing his contract, duh!!
😂
It would help if he actually read the article and not just the headline 😆 |

CSKA announced last month that it signed Fedotov to a two-year contract. Fedotov at the time said he completed his military service, according to comments reported by Russian government daily newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The IIHF, hockey’s world governing board, determined the deal to be a breach of international transfer regulations because Fedotov did not obtain a release from his contract with the Flyers, and it sanctioned the 26-year-old and CSKA. Fedotov was given a four-month IIHF suspension, spanning from CSKA’s first regular-season game on Sept. 1 through Dec. 31.
The article clearly talks about the contract with the KHL he signed AFTER his military service. Unless something has come out about him being forced to sign that contract, he was initially planning on staying in Russia and not coming over to the Flyers until the Flyers initiated legal action.
As it relates to Kolosov signing with the KHL, if that is what he wants, and ignoring the NHL contract not an option after the Fedotov ruling and fallout. |

The contract was signed in the absence of a transfer agreement so it doesn't mean much. Flyers can either loan him or suspend him. They really can't stop him.
Agreed on your last point. There's definitely something up with the way they're handling or communicating with their kids. Hopefully they don't step on any mines when dealing with Michkov. |

He's got near the same number of KHL starts as Fedotov yet the team hands an NHL job to Feds and apparently doesn't plan to give him a shot... maybe that's his POV.
Either way, he could just go back to Minsk, be a star and be around his family and friends. Or he could ride busses alone for pennies on the dollar for the next 2+ years.
You'd only put up with that if your dream was to be an NHL player. Maybe that's not the case for him after all. |
