You must've loved the part at 10.10 where they talk about the Flyers fanbase :
"0.00 percent of them watch hockey and 100.00 percent think they know everything about it"
does that include you? - Flyers_01
After listening to that and his analysis, I'm more convinced it's him (whoever he is) that doesn't watch hockey.

TK’s aav isn’t the problem, extending a guy who will turn 29 in year one of the deal when the team is probably 4 years, at best, from contending is the problem. - BiggE
Deslauriers, Johnson, Laughton, Hathaway, Ellis, LaZy HaYes, Couturier (LTIR), to name a few who will be off the books (hopefully) in 4 years. |

Hopefully doing some heavy lifting there. Danny probably can't wait to get Laughtsy a new extension a year from now. Intangibles and locker room presence are priceless to GMDB.

The A with a article saying timeline to contend might be shorter. Either the Flyers are paying these folks or there is something they know that we have not been told. |

true, but when this deal begins, the projected NHL cap is $92M and if true, TK would represent 9% of the team's cap. In 4-5 years, TK will probably represent about 6% of the team's cap hit if the cap increases by about 30%. If so, the length of the deal is less of a factor. - jd250
This is the same rationale we heard about the AMac contract... that it would hurt less and less as the cap went up. Well guess what, it didn't, it remained an albatross and a huge opportunity cost all the way up until the buyout came off the books.
Hopefully TK will remain productive for as long as possible but make no mistake... ~$9M AAV for a non-elite winger is always gonna be a huge chunk of change. It's gonna force them into making hard decisions down the road. And when his production starts to dry up it's gonna be really, really ugly. |

I love TK and am glad he is on the team and wants to not only remain a Flyer for his entire career, which is a rarity these days, but he also only wants to win a Cup for the Flyers (his own words). This is the type of player as a fan I want to watch and root for. - jd250
This right here is the 90 % stupid fan base that allows this crap organization to continue the status quo. Even when their eyes are opened they eventually come around to the spin and fall into line. |

cant see any realistic path in 4 years they are contending. everything and then some would need to go right. |

do any players ever say any diff when they re-sign with a team. tk took the bag. winning is secondary. |

Here you are again, flip flopping. Make up your mind. Was it the right move for the Flyers or not? Top players wanting to sign 8 year deals is not at all a rarity. - MJL

But the bad deals and average players will just fill up the roster again. It's a
continuous cycle. Rinse & repeat, read it and weep. |

Yes there is something wrong with what he posted. It’s the same old song and dance that leads to no cup titles in 5 decades and counting. So no we that call it out are NOT jo because eventually he will turn. Hopefully. The more that turn and stop doing precisely what he is doing will eventually hopefully make the team change |

I think the overwhelming majority of Flyers fans are behind what the team is currently doing. They think that Tortorella is the savior of the franchise. If you're waiting for the fan bas as a whole to turn on the team, you're going to have to wait a while. |

The real issue is it's not just TK that got the long term deal. They have 7 or 8 players that got deals longer than they deserve. A majority of those players literally cannot be traded, it is near impossible to trade them or the Flyers have to take back some sort of negative salary or add assets to trade them. Lack of flexibility year in and year out is a negative in the cap era.
Having dead money is not the end of the world. It is the constant dead money that gets you. To me dead money isn't just retained salary or buyout dollars. It also includes salary you cannot move for players you no longer want. When you have dead money year in and year out you will not be successful long term. Out spending mistakes is not a viable game plan anymore and hasn't been for almost 15 years now. |

I have never heard anyone call Torts the savior, just a coach that would bring a stop to the country club and actually hold players accountable?

Current state Torts holding anyone "accountable" is hysterical. He literally ran away from being held "accountable" multiple times last year.

I’ve heard a lot of things about both the franchise and Torts. Torts will stop at nothing for power, which sounds over the top to me. That he’ll hold players accountable, which I suppose he has in his own way. It’s okay to say when you’ve liked something he’s done and when you don’t like something he’s done. |

I hear you but it is a little different managing paid professionals (who are adults) and children. If you tell an adult to "Do what I say, not as I do" you will lose credibility instantly when you "do" what Torts did last season. A child does not know any better. |

Oh I totally agree 100%. That’s why I say the fan base is the 90%ers.
Dumb as nails.
And I’m done waiting. I have accepted this team will never get it. I’m just a troll now with the tk signing. I’m all in on Utah. No better team right now to root for from entry into league. Bottom floor up. I will support them with my $$$. Flyers? Not a dime. |
