Benson's metrics are very good, especially as an 18 yo rookie. Points wise, he held is own while learning on the fly. He may encounter the sophomore slump as many do, but he is a sure fire NHLer IMO... Best to let him develop here and try to identify his rightful position for the long term. I don't see him being sent down.

benson should not be given a spot because he put up 30 points as an 18 year old but if he is one of our 6 best wingers, he should be given a spot because he earned it

A loan requires permission from the WHL.

He's effectively stuck in Buffalo.

Benson doesn’t make the Sabres he goes to Rochester. His WHL days are over. He played a full NHL season.

This can't be true because they really wanted Savioe in AHL last year, so per your reasoning they could have kept Savioe on the NHL roster for 10 games and then sent him to Amerks? I don't think so.
