That's not good? It's only three series wins since they went to the finals. Crazy

Lol. I have a friend whose kid played hockey until middle school. The guy isn’t hurting but still encouraged his kid to switch over to basketball. The kid now plays basketball.

The real problem is the parents themselves. I live in the Phoenix area and every year I see B-level teams coming down from Canada to play in tournaments. Those kids had top quality equipment but couldn't play worth a damn.
When I played, the only teams that traveled that distance were AA and AAA teams. And only because there wasn't any competition in the area. Kids can play house and club hockey without it being ridiculously expensive. |

club ( A and below and really even AA) and house hockey is garbage.
The hockey is for everyone mantra is garbage. |

And they most likely will not make the playoffs this year, but I think they will be contention throughout the season and may sneak in if another team falters down the stretch. With Torts the Flyers will be a compettive team regardless, but if Michkov takes off and the PP gets better, the Flyers could be a playoff team. Of course this would be a bad thing and further cement the team into pergatory with no chance to add an elite player through the draft. |

to play tier 1 hockey in the USA is a sickening cost. Has to be by far the most expensive out of the 4 major ones.
Minny does it right to a big extent. They keep the kids in the state. Their programs are high quality; they don't travel all over the country for the most part. High school hockey there is very good. Unlike here in PA. |

They was in a playoff position for months! But the last games showed us how far away they really are. - THE EVIL WITHIN
They ran out of gas. Ersson played 80% of the final 35 games, his play was a big reason for the fall. They didnt play all that badly during the strech. You could see some guys were out of gas and hurt but overall they couldnt get a save. Any defensive lapse was being converted on. They will be a bubble team again and I think they make it this year. They have a very lax April schedule too. If they do make it they could be trouble for their opponents. I think I read they play a whole 2 games in April. They will be fairly rested. Just have to survive a 16 game March.

the out of gas is a lame bs excuse. they just were not good enough is the simple bottom line. so what will be diff this year in terms of them not being out of gas? torts will run the same program he has run.
The good ole opponent will be trouble if they make it.

It is way too expensive. I prefer to join an Outdoor Ball hockey League because it is so much cheaper and you play all year round, IF you want. We skip winters because frank that. Teams are up to 16 players so your cost is generally like $110 a season with a full team. A season being 12 games + playoffs. All you need is a stick, Jersey and gloves. Granted something like this might not be as available in the states.
It is more or less the same, just some aspects are easier, others harder.

Better conditioning for one. It is no different than a rookie getting used to an 82 game season. Torts bag skate to start camp wont be as exhausting as theyve been through it before
Guys will be healthy
Ersson wont be playing almost every game
Perhaps Sanheim and Yourk wont need to be overplayed every game
Young players hopefully taking a step further in their development
Michkov
Theres a lot that willl be different. |

- conditioning was not a problem in any way
- they were a very healthy team last season. that wasnt an issue.
- you have no idea sam wont play the majority. the ivan is a total unknown.
- the flyers D is thin and not very good. no one is capable of picking up the slack for york and sanheim.
- what does mm have to do with them not running out of gas? perhaps he will "run out of gas" after a long 1st season under torts.
- no there really isnt a lot that will be different. would love to hear what a lot will be different involves.
