I would take Hurts all day long over Love….that may change in the future…but not today.
- landros 2

Me too. Way harsh on Hurts over here imo. If we rank the top 5 throws in the game, the top 5 reads, they would all belong to Hurts.

Look at the change from last year: Hurts would run to his right to avoid blitzes, scramble around, the whole thing turning into a freakshow reminiscent of Randall Cunningham.

Yesterday: against a well-coached and good D? Without pre-season and with a new OC? 6/7 for 91 yards. Numerous hot reads. Time before throwing: 2.7 secs (that is Mahomes like fast).

Lets look at the INTs he threw. In the first, Packs playing zone. Devonte gets passed off and coverage is tight. Hurts is in his end-zone, under pressure, cannot step up into what is a 45 yards throw. That's not a bad read. That's an underthrow. Ball should be ahead of Smith.

Same thing on the 2nd: throwing across body, feet not set, underthrow. I am less worried about over-ambitious/poor throws than I am against him simply not reading D properly or panicking: which was the canard Todd Bowles had planted about Hurts.

Hurts can really adjust: what he lacks in elite skill, he almost makes up with adaptation, learning new tricks, and big time mentality. Do you remember the Hurts of just over 2 season ago, when we all thought he needs a college style zone-read option offense, running repeatedly with the ball in his hands in designed plays? in just over 2 seasons later, he is dropping arcing dimes to his RB in the end zone and rarely straying out of the pocket when he doesn't have to.

The Packers D kept containment and had a LB spy on him. Result: middle of the field open. Hurts is supposed to be good outside the #s, not so much inside. Yesterday, he burnt them repeatedly inside the #. Pretty soon? That spy is not gonna be there, and the QB keepers on play-action will be there again.

I am not worried about the offense (knock on wood). Without pre-season, terrible field, one INT in EZ, and with a new system, they scored 30+ against a good D. They took 7 and half mins on the final drive. The motions are so, so refreshing to watch. These is a loaded, loaded offense that is gonna be pretty hard to stop.

I am however much more worried about the D.

The reason why I asked is because there are no tackle stats for him

I know. Was just answering at face value of query for discussion sake.

If you think the INT's he threw were just badly thrown balls and not poor decisions. You have no clue what you're looking at. Especially the INT in the end zone that cost them points. There was no chance whatsoever to get that ball to Brown. He wasn't open and it was an across the body throw. The other was a lofted pass into a sea of defenders with no chance of a completion. Neither of those throws are about a new offense but are basic reads that a QB needs to make. He also threw other bad balls including one on a slant that could've been another INT.

Barkley has and will help this offence. I agree that Hurts has some work to do…like a lot of young QBs there’s room for growth. I just see a kid that’s committed and I trust he will continue to get better.
The D has a lot of talent. You could see some of it come out last night, but they have their work cut out for them….really hoping that by the the 2nd part of the season they will much better.
I agree the motions really is a refreshing…

Kolosov should be coming in to camp believing he has a chance to win an NHL job like Bobrovsky did. It's not like his NHL competition is anything special.

At least, that is what the Flyers should be telling him.

- MBFlyerfan

He may just not really be all that motivated to chase the NHL dream. A lot of Russians/Belarussians are happy just plying their trade at home and not having to deal with the culture shock. Just like a lot of North Americans would rather just be AHL pros than go chasing bigger paychecks/higher comp in the KHL. His agent probably pushed him into signing the ELC.

Then why sign a contract and come over? To find out that he can't cut it in the big leagues?

I would bet that there is a somewhat simultaneous press release of the Kolosov situation and the training camp schedule. Once they know what he is doing, we'll know both.

he's so good he couldn't score in the 1st quarter with the amazing field position? Hurts still beat him in the end

I guess an adult needs to explain to you that the QBs actually don't play each other. The defense bailed Hurts' ass out. You know, they aren't on the field at the same time. It's really simple common sense except for one so dense. Let's put it this way. If I was buying stock? I'd invest in Jordan Love over Hurts. Love is a pro style QB while Hurts is a glorified RB a la Michael Vick and those type of QBs don't win Chips at the NFL level. Thanks!

Predictions? The Eagles will easily win their division by default cause their division sucks this year. The Cowgirls are overrated as always and the other teams suck. Love will still be a better NFL QB than Hurts though.

Tom Brady will be an absolute stiff in the booth and Fox will regret throwing all of that cash at him! Olsen was really good and they should have just kept him as their #1 color guy.

Michkov and Torts will have their first run in 3 days into camp when Michkov tires of the bag skates.

Harris will trump Trump in November, and Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift will have a girl fight on national TV over their political differences. That's all folks!

I always find it funny on this board when people rant how much they hate Torts, he’s out for power and he’s going to be the ruin of this organization … and than in the same breath support Trump in returning as president. Even in some cases like Torts and hate Trump. These two people in my mind are basically the same human being…

Let the hate rain down on me, boys. I wanna see how this is explained away.

There are certainbly uncanny similarities in their current personas: of tough guy image obliterating any semblance of rationality about methods. And there are even bigger similarities in the blind faith of both followers.

One of the regulars here made this exact same observation to me over PM many months back. I will add the same distinction I made to him then.

Torts is a self-made man who has genuinely thrived on his own accord, without help. Trump, on the other hand, received a gigantic assist from family, and his business methods literally used to be taught in top business schools as an example fo what not to do.

I watched the game again (bite me! )

I would like to qualify my comments about Hurts, in all fairness. The first INT, I did not see a safety over the top, ahead of Smith. That would have been a very difficult throw, and probably does come down to poor judgment. There wwere some other poor throws as well. Staring down receivers is especially something the guy really needs to learn (to avoid).

Lets see.

When people don't have lives go the way they expect, they tend to look for scapegoats and conspiracies.

The scapegoats tend to be excessive societal assistance to the most vulnerable segments of society.

Tne conspiracies tend to be about elites engaging in some form of Machievellian stuff.

I think this is very well said. Take the money away though and put a microphone in front them, they’re the same person. It’s just so funny to me how an individual who loves one and hates the other thinks there is a difference between Trump and Torts. There isn’t.

Yes but this isn’t what I asked. I asked what his definition of “woke” was because nutter set the table and there is always a handful of people who go running to the “woke” drawer as if they’re about serve up some knowledge.

The word “woke” to me is just a lazy word that is easy to pick up and put down at will. Woke is a dumb word that is used by weak people to feel strong. That’s the new definition of.

Woke was stolen from black culture and the definition has been changing within the last couple years as Bill Burr once pointed out. What I’m tired of is, dumb white guys over using the word daily as if “woke” affects them at all…because it clearly doesn’t.

Nobody is woke. Nobody sounds smart using the word woke. Woke is just a word that one side uses to insult another side to feel powerful. Woke doesn’t really exist.

Woke in its present form means excessive public concern about social justice issues that are showy aka virtue signalling. Think Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

I was really addressing why guys like Flyer Nutter get bent about such notions, which have nothing to do with their lives in any meaningful way. And how, by extension, they go from criticising excessive concern for social justice to criticising any concern for social justice.

Gay pride? Woke.
BLM? Woke.
Trans rights? Woke.

And so on.
