I dont agree. The majority of his earnings will be gained after he becomes a UFA. That will be when he gets the big $$. Hes losing 2 years worth of salary on an entry level deal. If I really dont want to play thereI dont think its a huge leap to sacrifice 2 years over committing to 5/6 years to a team you dont want to play for

I think this is a case of Gauthier may think hes better than he actually is. Not to say he isnt going to be a great player but perhaps he thinks he is a franchise player where as he probably like a tier or two below that. Kind where someone like Kreider would be.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

He would lose potentially about 4.6M dollars by holding out and not signing. He won't make that money up.
There is no evidence to suggest that this is about ego for Gauthier. Kreider is one of the top goal scorers in the league.

I could easily understand that if that is what’s going on with the kid. What I don’t understand is the Flyers claiming they don’t know what’s going on. Why don’t they ever know what’s going? Why do they seem to be incapable of having a conversation with their draft picks or their agents?
- Dkos
Very true. It really makes no sense and it's concerning that they continually seem to have communication issues. It simply makes no sense. Someone appears to keep dropping the ball within the organization.

You are really taking this personally.

I said it looks like he would rather not play anywhere professionally than play for the Flyers and I have yet to see anything contradicting that statement.

While MJL contends that maybe Kolosov isn't ready to play in North America that is still where the Flyers play hockey and it is the Flyers that hold his rights.

He had a horrible experience with the Phantoms (due to him feeling lonely/homesick), which DB admitted he could've supported him better. I'm sure the lack of playing time didn't help either.

With those facts in mind Kolosov made a decision.

So, you think that a guy, who played, practiced, and made sacrifices since early childhood just walked away from the lucrative profession to spite the Flyers because they made him feel lonely?

I don't think he is doing it to spite the Flyers. He seems legitimately homesick. Maybe he is just a human being that misses home. That feeling is enough for him to not want to play in NA right now.

My guess is if he truly wants to play pro hockey (I am not saying he doesn't want to) he will come around eventually. He is still young.

I do not disagree with that.

Probably b some decent players waived in the next month. Unfortunately Flyers have zero room on the roster to take a chance.

Maybe one of the reasons why they are trying to get rid of RYJO. Though I HOPE they are doing it so they can weaponize cap space at the deadline.Take on an expiring contract to get a draft asset.

Unless it's a young player who they think just needs a change of scenery to flourish, then I'd pass and give any opportunities to young players in the A. As you say, the focus has to be on getting all the assets that they can for this draft. I'd love to see them completely re stock the cupboards with some great prospects in what's supposed to be a soldi draft..

RYJo was never going to be on the roster. Don’t think that would have any effect on a waiver claim.

He's probably referring to the contract slot that would open up. Not sure how many we have allocated as of now.

It would be if they needed the cap space to make the waiver claim.

Don’t think cap space will be an issue. They can always put Ellis away. Not ideal. Can also waive a player on their roster as well if need be.

Either way they didn’t give themselves much if any room to do much. To be in the spot they are with no wiggle room is truly astounding.

What will be really astounding is in five years when they are in the same cap situation with only a slightly better roster.

They potentially have the most talented player they have had since Lindros; a guy that they would not have come close to being able to draft if not for a war breaking out. There was even talk that he could beat out Bedard for 1st overall before all the international nonsense.

It’s ok to have a little hope right now.

Ok, so you are already certain that Briere will be no better than Fletcher, Hextall, Holmgren and Clarke?

It a very appropriate to have hope in Michkov, but it will take much more than 1 elite player (if he hits his ceiling) to get this team to true contention. Still need a 1D, 1C and center depth. Now if Bonk and Luchanko hit their ceilings, then we will have something. Right now too early to tell.

One player and the hope he gives does not overcome the inevitability that as soon as they can, they're going to go right back to what they've always done. To what doesn't work. At least not by the standard that I have. It's a shame that so many Flyers fans are so easily pleased.

Neither Bonk or Luchanko have ceilings rated to be what the Flyers need. The Flyers if they were smart, could've had a prospect stable of Michkov, Gauthier and Buium. All 3 are currently rated at the top 15 of NHL prospects. Luchanko is currently ranked 75th. He will rise in those rankings but he is not projected to be an elite player. His ceiling is currently as a 2nd line player. A big draft +1 season is expected and doesn't change that. He was drafted at 17 years old.

Michkov makes it easier to fill out the roster. They have someone potential who can beat out top shutdown lines and pairs giving everyone an easier assignment. It’s the biggest possible piece needed and the hardest to get.

If you believe everything you wrote up there, why watch? If you truly believe it’s going to be another decade of failure, why waste all your time?
