Did the OEL's and Gudbranson's and Virtanen's and Holtby's hinder any successes he achieved in drafting? What about the non-signings of Tanev and Toffoli? How about the Adam Clendening for Gustav Forsling trade?

So much stink in his 8 seasons. I don't think you can just assess his tenure on the current core alone. Plus, what has the current core done? Win a division? That's a low bar to hit.

Just think it's credit where due. All GM's have hits and misses I mean Hey Holland and Rutherford took major flak in their dying years in DET and PIT but yet they still have three cups each. Sure Allvin and JR have rounded things out nicely (so far) and Tocchet a well-deserved Jack Adams...but good things are finally here much owed to the previous MNGT.

While I agree this 'current core' hasn't gotten us past the 2nd round yet but I feel it's going to happen here in the next 3-4 seasons and much of that we owe to the previous mngt whether folks want to admit it or not.

Honestly not much different than giving Gillis the credit he deserved when he won GM of the year and rightfully so. Most GM's leave a mess in their wakes on their way out of organizations Benning Gillis etc not much different that any others. Benning wasn't perfect by far but I will recognize what he did here. However it's nice that the new mngt group so far has a pretty good handle on things. Exciting times are coming. Strap in.

If we lost Garland the midget we would need someone to fill that gap. Eller can play both centre and wing and put up very decent numbers last season all things considered. Cup Champ as well.
