I like Dozzer, but when he's wrong he's spectacularly wrong. This was regarding Hakanpaa literally a day (maybe two) before he signed.

I never said what he’s suggesting but nice try.

Players don’t give a rats ass about their cap hit, it’s their take home they care about, so if he couldn’t get the signing bonus while living under far less taxation he’d either cost way more or would sign down in the low taxation states.

You think I’m wrong when I say the take home of their contract is more important than a cap hit? I know there’s some who differ but not the majority. The way contracts get written out these days more than proves that. Look at Matthews, captain of the team, gets paid a minimum salary while receiving all the money July 1st from signing bonuses, would you not consider that evidence that it’s take home that matters? JT suing the CRA is another example.

But whatever, believe what you want, I’ll stick to news and payout patterns
