This is categorically false. None of this is even remotely true.

He was constantly in Hak and AV's dog house (for cheating up the ice) and would famously get really negative on the ice and down on himself.

Now Torts just (mostly) lives with TK's warts because he literally has nobody else to carry the team.

Famously in the dog house? Bad attitude? None of this happened lol. Those around the team would read this and laugh at how off base this is. Did Carchidi write this lol?

TKs numbers trended upward after that joint Hayes benching. Is that torts “getting out of his way?”

It's all well documented and it is really just an example of how some players need more time and at some point just leave him alone and let him play.

It amazing how Tortorella will ignore some players who don't adhere to Tortorella's non-negotiable's and how he gets on other players who are more responsible players away from the puck.

Agreed, TK disappears too much and misses to many games to have the IT factor. He is good bit not great.

Nobody thought TK had the "it" factor either until he stepped up when Claude left.

He was Frost before Frost, except he was harder to coach and had a worse attitude. Once the coaches got out of his way he started to flourish.

- Tomahawk

Is his true? In the 2019-20 season, he showed a lot of flair when the team got hot before the Covid shutdown. In particular, he was cooking as Hayes' RW on line 2. Ended up with almost a ppg average that season.

Truly bizarre how much time this board spends whining about Frost when he has outplayed Farabee the past two seasons, and is on a much cheaper contract. Of the non-ELC forwards, the Flyers best offensive bang for their buck has come from Frost.

https://www.nhl.com/stats...erGame&page=0&pageSize=50

And his defense has been solid enough to make him one of only four Flyer forwards to not be underwater in goals for/against at ES. Unlike, for example, Scott Laughton who has lost a stop defensively from his younger days.

Wrong.

He was on a torrid pace to start the season before Torts benched him in mid-Oct. 4-goals in the first 4-games. Point per game on the date of the benching.

After Claude left is when TK's numbers shot up. That pre-dates Torts. TK stepped up. All credit to him.

(frank)….it’s 3rd and 2….run Barkley…..if he only gets a yard…then on 4th TUSH PUSH!!!….horrible drop….but why even do it? Losing faith in Sirianni.
- landros 2

I have no problem with the call. Guy was wide open. It's a gimme first down and normally SB doesn't drop those.

They are giving up 6.5 YPC against the run. 6.5! The defensive line is getting bullied. The ends are doing nothing at all. There was no pressure at all in the final drive of Falcons from the base D.

Fangio's scheme is predicated on on not having to stack the box. They need to fix things.

Its gonna be ugly next Sunday in the dome.

He makes $2.1m and is the 4th highest scoring player on the team under Torts despite being healthy scratched 12 times. Any rational fan base would call that fine, at worst.

And he won 47.5% of his faceoffs in case jd is still worried about that. Cates is at 40.7%.

He played mostly w/ G, Coots (Selke year) and Oskar that season. We all thought he could be a good complimentary player but nobody realized that he was capable of carrying the team on his own. Then the bloom really came off the rose in subsequent seasons.... most of the fanbase wanted him gone.

I would think Torts has had a positive effect on TKs game…is he the #1 reason? I wouldn’t think so. I think TK has matured and honestly the number one factor for a players success is, has always been, and will always be for the MOST part on the player himself.
- landros 2

Thing is if that is true then the opposite is true as well. When a player fails, that is on the player itself for the most part. A player cant only be responsible for their success but not failures.

Lets face it look at all the players we know who have clashed publicly with Torts and responded poorly to him. Hayes, RyJo, DeAngelo, Laine and PLD. All 4 players in someway considered disappointments. Hayes is on his 3rd team in 2 years, No one wants RyJo, DeAngelo is no longer rostered, Laine was pretty much given away and PLD is on his 3rd team in 5 years. LA gave up on him after 1 season. There seems to be a common trend among these players.

Now guys who responed well to or challenged Torts like Konecny, Beiska, Lecavailer, Richards, St.Louis, York, Sanheim all ended up better seasons or having good careers. Torts is a fairly simple coach to play for. He wants 110% on the ice every game no exceptions. Do that and he will be happy, take shifts off and he wont be. He challenged York saying he wasnt sure he was an NHL Dman when they decided to sent down. He came back up with a vengence and now Torts has him as a top pair D. He has now done the exact same thing to Brink. Time to see how he responds.

nothing wrong with his salary. maybe a tad underpaid. bragging about being the 4th leading scorer on a bad team isn't all that impressive.

frost should be better at faceoffs as cates isn't a natural center. Comparing the 2 is just as bad as comparing frost and tk.

I am pretty sure I remember some games with following lines:

Roo-Couts-Voracek
Farabee-Hayes-TK

...

I think JVR was demoted to line 3 and 4 down the season.

The Frost detractors don't like to deal in facts. They'll state that you need to watch the game. He's frequently invisible. LOL

Hayes was an all star under Torts.

Laine put up a ppg his only full season under Torts.

ryjo put up 134 points in 184 games in his 2 full season with torts.

tony d was always flawed with or without torts.

that is flyers hockey baby. all about culture. what is clean hockey?

do you factor in any regression from the "young" players? you always just talk about how they will improve.

- hello it's me 2050

Clean hockey is staying out of the penalty box and being on the right side of the puck at all times. The hope is the younger players will take the next step. If they regress the Flyers will be screwed.
