It can be used as punishment, sure. But this bag skate is about seeing where your players are in their conditioning coming into camp. Just watch it and you can see how it tells you a lot about each player. You can see players like Frost and even Deslauriers handling it well. But then you see rookies like Michkov that looked really shaky. It also tells you a lot about the player's mindset. Will they persevere and get through it even if they have to crawl to the finish line, or will they quit. Michkov I heard almost quit yesterday, but I am really glad he didn't, and I heard his teammates were really pushing him which is a good sign.

We both know this will not happen. Plus, what veteran are they going to move? They had this opportunity and passed when they re-signed Seeler. As well as EJ to an extent. Zamula is the only one who may be in danger. That is pure stupidity.

Correct about the coach and his goal is to win. Then play who will give him that chance. However, when the coach is calling a lot of the shots at the NHL level it doesn't help with what you're saying.

You also have to have your GM and coach aligned for the direction the team is taking.

- hello it's me 2050

I agree, Zamula should not be in danger at all. I am not worried about EJ, he is not going to get in the way of any player. But right now with Drysdale, York, Risto, Sanheim, Zamula and Seeler, there is really no place for these young defenseman to go. I really hope they make it impossible for Briere to send them down again.

Guys that are that good at that age don’t get that way by quitting on anything.

I heard them say he didn't go hard through the final line on the first set of 3, Torts said that he cant do that, and after that he finished hard just like everyone else.

I agree. I think it certainly matters if he quit on these exercises. It's not a good sign and he comes with a reputation of pushing back at things he doesn't like. Wouldn't that be a kick in the groin if he decides he wants to go back to the KHL after all. Just kidding...I hope!

You said better than I did, I will delete my post.

I doubt MM would want to make a bad impression that early in his Flyers career.

he isnt going to change. he may adapt for a bit then revert back. just hoping they give him a 2 year or at least a 1 year ext.

they did just hire more analytics peeps. maybe he had a say in that!!!

- hello it's me 2050

Didn't Fletcher brag that he drastically increased the size of the Flyers analytics dept before using them to make his age chart?

Whatever happens to all these analytics people they hire, never to be heard from again? Year round paid vacations? Because you know Jonesy and Torts think analytics are the devil. Maybe Briere in the draft but the coach needs to make informed decisions and not just go with his gut to put all his defensemen out there in OT.

They do know just having the largest collection of something doesn't mean you win, you actually have to use them.

They are in year three of trying to explain PDO and what Jfresh hockey is to Torts

Disagree as Attard/Ginning are no longer prospects. One should be on the roster over EJ. This is where the coaches control comes into play and why Seeler should have been moved.

Anyone else sick and tired of this stupid rope thing? For three years that’s the BIG story. Torts and his f0@k!ng rope/bag skate.

Doesn’t bother me. From player’s comments it sounds like it motivates them to be in shape before camp starts. One day of hard skating seems harmless to me.

My guess is that he had trouble understanding it. He got frustrated and angry and decided it’s stupid.

...yet we seem to live in a more violent world than ever. Or is it just that we hear about EVERYTHING in this era.

It as if people think DB can call up any team and say take our mediocre Dman and the team will do it.

What will DB have to take in return, a bad contract or a bad prospect?
What will DB have to send along with the mediocre Dman, what prospect or draft pick?

He said exactly what we have been complaining about. That he develops tunnel vision and blind spots. This time he was talking about the team play style but he could have just as easily been talking about certain players. His rigidity is always his downfall. It is good he recognizes he should have coached adjustments to play style depending on game situations, and will work on the teams offensive strategies.

yea kind if it, I find myself at the beginning of the season hoping what he says will be true, that he will learn and adjust, and his content was good. Truth, I am a fan and will always go into the season with hope, the fear, I think Torts will apply what he learned but will lean on the Ryan P and S Laughton's of the world to accomplish what he is referring to. I hear what he says about dirty goal and immediately know, that is why Brink and Frost were benched last game. Torts has to be the smartest guy in the room, need greasy goals, must need a grinder to do it. I will go in hoping Torts applies what he learned, hoping DB took him to task for his personnel decisions last season , hope is not a plan but it is a Flyers fan only path forward.

I think most of us going into last season agreed, if the kids took a step, TK played well, Coots was decent, we had a bubble team, that is what we had.

I can see 2 paths this year

Coots is actually better, TK is TK, Kids take another small step, MM is as advertised, goal tending holds up and they are still a bubble team.

Coots is the same, kids are the same, MM does not have enough around him and goal tending is what it was 2nd half of last year, the Flyers are bottom 5.

The first is my hope, make the playoffs, just a fan wanting to watch his team play.

The 2nd is what they need and I want or the future.

This is a rebuild, their version of a rebuild, you can hear that when Torts and DB speak. Their version believes in the kids on the roster or coming up, the picks over the next 2 seasons. I get it, they have built the current group, that group has talent, I am sure they discuss elite talent and the draft. I am sure they know trading up in the first round is a long shot. I hope (that word again) DB sees they could take a step back this season (he said as much), I hope he is ready to move Laughton, move RR, move a Farabee in the right deal, move a Hathaway, Ryan P, a Cates, move them all mid- season, load up on picks or young prospects and look towards 2026.

The FBI data also shows a 59% reduction in the U.S. property crime rate between 1993 and 2022, with big declines in the rates of burglary (-75%), larceny/theft (-54%) and motor vehicle theft (-53%).

According to the data New York City is one of the safest places.

Now let's look at Ristolainen's analytics data, but first lets remove all the bad games...but the data says it!!!
