He Keeps progressing, could be a better version of Samuelsson
- Buff36

Samuelsson is a better skater right now then Komarov and Novikov?

tuch has played 199 games for the sabres and has 176 points on a team that stinks

not sure what more he can do on the ice to win people over that he is a first liner

now when his next contract starts, he will probably be paid for a first line winger and regress to second line numbers

- homiedclown

While I agree he's been great, he also took a step back last year. If he goes back to 2022-23 production, great! If he reverts back to a 60pter, then he's a high end 2nd liner on a contending team. We need to keep in mind there's levels to this here. EDM had 132pt and 106pt players (Tuch would've been 6th on their team in scoring last year). Florida had 94, 88, and 80pt players (Tuch would've been 5th in scoring for them last year).

Tage may be able to repeat his 90pt season...need to have at least one, if not two guys who are attaining that to really be dominant. Again, not saying he stinks. Just saying that given his most recent year, his production is indicative of a high 2RW, on a contending team. Hopefully he snaps back.

The whole top 6 did besides JJ.

Hyman went from a 40pt player to a 80 pt player. Not cause he got that much better. Cause his linemates.
Reinhart went from 40-50pts to 80-90+ in Florida. Cause he got actual linemates.

Hopefully Ruff brings out what we saw on the offensive side a couple years ago while having a real structure to the team.

Is the skating of Komarov and Novikov as bad as I have read on Twitter?

I think part of it with tuch was the pp

he had 9 less pp points this past year

if he had 68 points instead of 59 last season I think people will think different of him

16 game winning goals from him over the past 2 years

I seem to notice Novikov on the ice more often than Komarov, so I'll only comment on him. I didn't think his skating was bad (Murray looked slow). Novikov is not a quick skater or fast, kind of what most big defensemen are. I didn't think he looked worst than Sammy and he definitely brings more attitude than Sammy (who sometimes looks like he's sleepwalking through a game).

I think the issue is, we don't have a McDavid or a Barkov, who's tides raise all boats.

Being hopeful with Lindy is prudent, but I still don't think we have the necessary DNA to win a championship yet. Make the playoffs. Sure, borderline, but sure. Big leap between there and where we need to get to.

Lets worry about making it and then we can worry about what is needed for a championship caliber team.

Toronto has those players they can't get past the second round.

Being just under 70 would probably change some perceptions, but I don't think that improvement would change his position on those top teams. He needs to be at or around ppg if he's a bonafide 1RW. With the improved PP success we're expecting, he should regain some traction, but it just needs to happen. I'd say him, Cozens and Quinn getting back to form is integral to our success. Without 2/3, at least, we're on the outside looking in again this year. With our defenseman, I can't see us becoming some shut down, Isles style team any time soon.

I hear ya. I'd rather build to win than build to squeak in, but I get the sentiment after such a long drought.

Toronto sucks, 2 times. So they're different.

I didn't pay much attention to Komarov, other than he looks a lot bigger than I remember.
Novikov seems to move alright for a man his size, had a nice breakup on a cross ice pass last night coming back on the back check. He had actually carried the puck Deep and then the puck got flobbed by Dunne I believe.

If it were only that easy.

Yeah they suck but they have a top 5 player and other top of the league players and how many Finals have they seen? Not even a conference finals.

if quinn and benson live up to half the hype, the top 6 is good IMO

Sabres didn't pay to bring the broadcast crew cause they had to spend that money on Laderhosen for the players to wear to a exhibition game against a DEL team.

Isn't easy to accomplish, but that should absolutely be the goal. My biggest problem with Adams is that, it seems, he will never actually go for it and putting together a low level playoff roster is the target. We should be aiming fire and as they say, aim small, miss small.

Leafs issue is that those players are all soft and dwindle come playoff time. Couple that with untimely bad goaltending and a porous defense, it's no wonder they've struggled.

instead of trading 1 highly skilled prospect for a bottom 6 guy, adams should have been trading 2 or 3 highly skilled prospects for a big impact player
