Kind of hard for me to believe KK isn't on the team.

Playing big minutes, i don't really care one way or the other, but i'll be very surprised if he's sent to Rockford.

- vabeachbear

Five spots are already taken:
Jones
Vlasic
Martinez (assuming healthy)
Brodie
Murphy

So you have the 6-7 Dman spots left. From what I've seen thus far - and considering Kaiser doesn't seem to be healthy yet - Phillips is likely on the team. KK might get the last spot, but my take is that they need him to really show that he's ready and I'm not sure he's done that yet. It's not ideal, but I don't think it the end of the world if he goes to RFD this year.

Korchinski-Murphy
Phillips-Crevier

Commesso
Soderblom

Thru 2 periods of Game 1 I posted Smith has been the most dangerous Hawk followed by Hall. Not sure if I posted after Game 2 that Smith is gonna see a decent amount of time in the top 6 but I sure thought so, and still do.

Dude has good speed, a great motor, decent enough hands and rarely, if ever, passes up a shot of which he has always had a good one. Pretty good chance the Smith signing will be a significant one ....... Flip a coin on Reichel but it will be interesting to see Smith with Kurashev tomorrow.

Love when I get a chance to see Commesso not so much with Soderblom. Didn't, and still don't, think he's an NHL goalie but last game was a more efficient one, by his standards statuesque, so if he plays tomorrow I'm gonna pat attention.

Why was Slaggert demoted? What the heck does he need to work on? Oh well maybe someone gets moved (Athensieu ?) by say Thanksgiving or Christmas and Slaggert returns
- jhawk59

No matter what happens from here on out I missed on Slaggert. Kid has IQ I simply missed, same with Nazar. Really like his 2 way game where he makes plays all over the ice and understands the value in that. Understands his role, which too often is half the battle with prospects.

I see him and Anderson the same in that way except Anderson has much better offensive tools....... IMO both will have NHL careers, only a matter of when and where.

I agree he's NHL ready today but the influx of legit NHLers sign makes this kind of inevitable. Going to RKF ain't gonna hurt him but I believe he'll be up with the big club a couple times this yr and depending on need at the time he'll be one of the first forwards to get the call...... I think he's called up 2-3-4 guys ahead of Dach.

They're going to do everything they can to see if KK is going to make the squad. Not good that Kaiser isn't healthy enough to draw in. Sucks for him. He was supposed to be make a big push to make the team.

As much as I didn't think he was in the plans, Phillips has made a nice push this offseason. If he can keep the puck in front of him, he'll be a piece to use.

- Chunk

That's exactly how I see Phillips, a piece. An NHL piece. To what degree is the question for me. Maybe a ceiling as an NHL #4 and a floor of a 7th-8th Dman.

I bought shares of Phillips stock a couple yrs back posting he'll have an NHL career. Each and every time I've seen him since I've liked what I saw, RKF or Chicago. Until this yr.

Bamford has been singing his praises and still is. Chirping his practices have been very good and physical so I was excited to see the 2024 version. Thought his feet were a tad heavier 1st game and saw him take a bad angle 2-3 times in the 2 games, both things I thought the previous 2-3 yrs were solid.

We'll see, but he's caught some eyes. The Athletic has him pegged as probably getting claimed off of waivers if he's sent down and were spot on in their evaluation of his skills. ....... I do like watching him paired with Crevier and the eye shows the two haven't been caved this yr. Tomorrow they'll get another game.

Actually it's Crevier who I think took the biggest leap forward this yr. The 6ft 8in kid seems more polished and mature than last yr. When zeroing in on his shifts he's a damn fine skater at that size and has always been taught about using his reach. Some legit tools.. Another I think just might not make it thru waivers.

Wonder if the organIzation thinks that too? If so we might see KD move a young Dman...............

And, on the topic of Dmen I'd like to see Allen get some NHL games. Kid always flies under the radar when the young Hawk Dmen are being discussed but all the kid ever does is knock people down and skates well using his size. .....Kid has the backclass of being a 1st rd pick along with a couple WJC's and IMO he deserves a look in the Bigs . He'll go back down but with the benefit of experiencing NHL speed, skill and size/strength.

Although you like your 2nd round picks to eventually have a legitimate NHL career, I'm not feeling it with Dach. I doubt he's as good as Entwistle.

If I had to bet a buck I'd bet he doesn't have and NHL career. Of course way too early to say anything definitive, especially young big power types, but I've never been a Dach guy going back to jrs. Simply said I don't think I've ever seen him impact a game of any significance at any level.

I'll say this, the kid's feet belie his size. He is light on his feet and had a couple, maybe few, shifts in Game 2 where his line played a very nice cycle and possessed the puck for a good spell in the Ozone.

Hopefully he has a healthy yr down on the farm and progresses but today I'm not expecting much. ....... Seems the organIzation sees him differently so he'll get plenty of chances.

If personality traits are a qualification, how did Ty Cobb get into the Hall. One of the most despicable humans to ever walk the earth.

I have the feeling that he'll be in the hall in 2 years based on his on field stats with no reference to his off field antics. They were waiting for him to pass on.

If that happens, it’s absolutely pathetic. It’s a damn disgrace that the all-time hits leader is not in the Hall. There are plenty of pieces of poop in every sports HOF.

Do you think they should change the rules to allow players and coaches to bet on games in which they participate?

By all accounts he never bet against his team to win. By betting on his own team to win, did he ruin the integrity of the game?

Separate issue from the HOF, but if they are betting on their own team to win, then I really have no issue with it. Where's the harm?

If you are making any sort of reference to that being a consideration for the HOF, I think it's ridiculous. As much as everyone loves what Bobby Hull did on the ice, was there a more piece of poop human in sports? How many wives did he pummel?

I also don't think they should outlaw drugs in sports. Everyone's already doing them. Some just are better at hiding it.

Yes. As a manager you control who you play or pitch. Maybe don’t use your closer on say Tuesday, and save him for Wednesday, because you’re betting on your team Wednesday, that’s just one example.

Edit - not saying he shouldn’t be in hof, but definitely impacted the integrity of the game.

You just popped open a can of worms my friend.

Full disclosure - I played baseball through HS, and tried to walk on the team when I went to college. I like playing baseball, but cannot sit through an entire game live or on TV.

Baseball has different rules depending on the league you are in (DH). The DH is - in my mind - the single largest abomination in sports history. They basically giving pitchers the excuse to be poopty baseball players.

Then, you add in the BS extra inning rule where teams automatically get a guy on base through no fault of their own. I could go on about baseball and other sports as well, but no one wants to hear me yell at clouds all day.

I think gambling is a disease for some people. If i remember correctly Pete Rose bet on more than the Reds.
Resided in Vegas, i think the rules should stay the same, but i also believe it's time to put him in the hall of fame.

Just set up the antenna thing. I immediately mounted it up high on the wall after seeing the reception was great for CBS, NBC and WGN and then to my dismay, CSN ( 62.2 and 62.3) had poor reception out here in the West Suburbs. Took it down and when I place the antenna thing in a different area, oddly on the floor, it is clear. There are a lot of free channels. I wonder if I got a better antenna than the Amazon 59.99 it would work better.

For those prone to addictive issues, 100%

If he is deserving of the HOF now, then he was when he retired.

*Yeah, I'm gonna keep going on this*

Dumbest argument I've heard is "he's not a first ballot HOFer" (not talking about Rose here). A player either is worthy or not. The BS of saying one guy has to wait longer is one of the most pretentious things I've heard.

This is fun. Let's keep this going.
