For those prone to addictive issues, 100%

If he is deserving of the HOF now, then he was when he retired.

*Yeah, I'm gonna keep going on this*

Dumbest argument I've heard is "he's not a first ballot HOFer" (not talking about Rose here). A player either is worthy or not. The BS of saying one guy has to wait longer is one of the most pretentious things I've heard.

This is fun. Let's keep this going.

At the same time in many people's minds he's already in the hall of fame, all time hits leader in baseball? Common already

MLB cannot take away what P Rose accomplished. You cannot pretend he is not worthy to be in The Hall of Fame. He was banned from baseball and an asterisk could be put next to his name for betting late in his career. He was a colorful character who was one of the all time great players per his accomplishments. His gambling was wrong; he was held accountable after the transgressions but do not omit him from The Hall of Fame because he was a legend with great accomplishments. You don’t like his gambling and despise his gambling. Fine. But denying him a place in The Hall of Fame is not proper

Just set up the antenna thing. I immediately mounted it up high on the wall after seeing the reception was great for CBS, NBC and WGN and then to my dismay, CSN ( 62.2 and 62.3) had poor reception out here in the West Suburbs. Took it down and when I place the antenna thing in a different area, oddly on the floor, it is clear. There are a lot of free channels. I wonder if I got a better antenna than the Amazon 59.99 it would work better.

Sounds about right. Not sure a more expensive one will help. I used to have a $30 one I got at Home Depot it worked pretty well just had to move it to pickup Fox for football games.

No matter what happens from here on out I missed on Slaggert. Kid has IQ I simply missed, same with Nazar. Really like his 2 way game where he makes plays all over the ice and understands the value in that. Understands his role, which too often is half the battle with prospects.

I see him and Anderson the same in that way except Anderson has much better offensive tools....... IMO both will have NHL careers, only a matter of when and where.

I agree he's NHL ready today but the influx of legit NHLers sign makes this kind of inevitable. Going to RKF ain't gonna hurt him but I believe he'll be up with the big club a couple times this yr and depending on need at the time he'll be one of the first forwards to get the call...... I think he's called up 2-3-4 guys ahead of Dach.

World Series MVP, couple of batting titles, couple of gold gloves, 17 time all star, all time leader in games, plate appearances, hits.

Pretty pretty pretty good.

Gambling is so much in everyone's face now and bank rolling a lot of the sports right now anyway.

It's kind of like the Lance Armstrong argument. He was just better than everyone else even though everyone else was doping too - he just happened to piss everyone off because he was a wiener. The crazy part there is that the power he was generating then (in terms of wattage) isn't anywhere near what cyclists are putting out today.

A lot of these guys are on a program - and that is sport agnostic. Some of them are just genetic freaks and can handle the abuse 'naturally' but many are going to need help to recover enough to get through the season and stay at a high level and a combination of diet, supplements and pharmaceuticals is what keeps these people going.

The integrity of the game is a silly argument. They play the game to entertain us. To think these 3rd grade educated people are supposed to be some bastion of moral high ground is a little bit much. Certainly they shouldn't be committing violent crimes but for some of this white collar stuff who gives a (frank).

If that happens, it’s absolutely pathetic. It’s a damn disgrace that the all-time hits leader is not in the Hall. There are plenty of pieces of poop in every sports HOF.

Do you think they should change the rules to allow players and coaches to bet on games in which they participate?

If Pete Rose gets in (and he should) then I think Shoeless Joe should also get in. Look at his stats for the 1919 world series. I don't think he knew he was suppose to throw the games.

You just popped open a can of worms my friend.

Full disclosure - I played baseball through HS, and tried to walk on the team when I went to college. I like playing baseball, but cannot sit through an entire game live or on TV.

Baseball has different rules depending on the league you are in (DH). The DH is - in my mind - the single largest abomination in sports history. They basically giving pitchers the excuse to be poopty baseball players.

Then, you add in the BS extra inning rule where teams automatically get a guy on base through no fault of their own. I could go on about baseball and other sports as well, but no one wants to hear me yell at clouds all day.

- Chunk

On the first bolded, I guess it’s my turn today. On the second bolded, where have you been Chunk? The DH is now in both leagues.
Third, I played baseball throughout HS as well, and I too can’t sit through a whole game anymore.

No poop? Ha! Well, I haven't watched a game since 2005 (draw your own conclusions). A guy at work told me about the new extra inning thing and lost my mind.

FYI regarding Kaiser:

Ben Pope
@BenPopeCST
Some clarity from the Blackhawks on Wyatt Kaiser: A concern popped up during his pre-camp physicals that required some invasive testing. Everything came back clear, so he’ll begin recovery from the tests and ramping up to resume skating ASAP.

I really hope it's nothing too serious.

Back to the guy who is pretty much a 4th line winger (or 3rd at best) lining up at 2C. I'm one of this biggest critics around here, but I do hope he does well and proves me wrong, I just feel much better having him on the 4th line where he can face hopefully lower competition and be less of a passenger.

Artyom Levshunov was apparently skating with the team and no longer in a "non contact" jersey. So maybe we'll see him get into a game soon.

He'll get in. Folks soften up about folks once they pass......... Good day to mention this.

I've been preaching this to the fellas for 40 yrs. It took Charlie Hustle 2,613 more at bats than the great Cobb to get 67 more hits!! 5+ more seasons of at bats to get 67 more hits than Cobb.

Rose is beyond doubt a HOFer but as the proverbial saying goes back in the day, he couldn't carry Cobb's jock strap.

If everyone is healthy, AA isn't in the top six. I'm going to keep holding onto Reichel filling one of those spots until he gets launched (maybe sooner than I think). From what we've seen thus far, I think Smith makes it into the top 6 before AA does.

Indeed, Chunk. Right now it looks like Reichel is gonna get a top 6 start to the season and unlike his time with the Hawks so far the leash is much shorter for LR when he has a few reasonable NHL options to take his spot and IMO Smith is the prime candidate.

And with a chance to skate with Bedard, TT and Hall with the backend conceivably better come TDL time Smith might have put up some very desirable stats. ...... Little early still but Smith looks hungry as does Hall. Smith will get some top 6 time just a matter of how much from looks for a few games to being a fixture.

If Reichel doesn't get his nose over the puck consistently he's gonna become a guy they say a change of scenery will help at 22 yrs old,.

IMO, you can't say that, Cobb didn't play against the best players of his time, Rose's to me is more impressive

Couple other points;

1. Rose bet on his team to win, i know you can't bet, but he wasn't throwing games

2. I refuse to judge him as a horrible human, as I never met him. I learned a long time ago to judge people for yourself, not some one else's opinion.

3. No one played as hard as he did for as long as he did in any sport.

Thanks for posting..... This kinda press release can be scary cuz it connotes illness and not injury.

Terrible timing for any health/injury issues for Kaiser. It seems the organIzation expects him to be an NHLer this yr and a spot is there for the taking for him. Looking forward to seeing him this yr after getting 32 NHL games then down to RKF for 37 games and an offseason to prepare.

He's 22 now with 3 full NCAA seasons and a yr of pro.

This is wonderful news. Don't know about anyone else but I thought sure he'd be out for 6 weeks with a busted up foot.

Thought this for awhile. A few legit options for the Hawks at #2 with the super skilled Demidov one of them but the Hawks did the right thing taking Lev IMO.

He's the 10-15 yr left tackle type whereas a Demidov is like Odunze. Love both players but if I'm presented with a 10-15 yr pro bowl left tackle type I'm gonna grab that every time.......... I watch Fields, or now Williams, and wonder what they'd be in an organIzation that operated with a tackling and blocking mentality. Build from the middle out mentality.

That's one way to look at it. The other is competition was much stronger in Rose's day. Do you really think Cy Young could win 511 games today?

You can't replace everybody in two years. The Williams pick was there and had to be taken. Odunze was the best player on the board IMO.

I wasn't sure it was fully broken or just really banged up. Did they ever actually confirm the extent of it?
