This team isn’t finishing anywhere close to drafting in the top 10.

Hello Mr Team with a top 5 pick. Will you trade us your pick for picks 17, 21, and 27? No? Ok talk to you later!

Agreed, people NEED to let go of that delusion that trading 2-3 picks to get a high pick is possible. Trading up in picks only gets you ONLY a couple spots higher than your best pick.

Read between the lines a little bit. When Laughton gets a nice 5 year extension these types of things matter. I wanted TK traded at the deadline this past season, you could have gotten some valuable pieces for him that fit a better timeline with a guy like Michkov. One signing doesn’t kill you is my point, don’t love the TK deal but he’s a good player at a fair price. Wish he was traded but he wasn’t.

Laughton wont get 5 years. Hathaway got 2 years and so did Poehling. Briere is not signing depth players long term. Not only that neither of those 2 have NTC. It is not impossible Laughton could get one but if he does it will be at the cost of his AAV. His role would decrease and his cap hit on a new contract would reflect that.

Michkov is not going to make 10 mill right off the bat. We are all thinking he has a 60 point season and that is actually expecting a lot. There is no doubt he has impressed in the preseason but it is just that Preseason. He has to do this against full NHL talent and the wear and tear of a full season will hit him hard. Some suggest he seems a bit tired already

Flyers can also still trade TK they got till July 1st. If Michkov does blow people away in year 1 and lets say Frost disappoints. Flyers coul elect to move TK for a C or maybe Drysdale doesnt impress and hes moved for a D. It wouldnt be the 1st time or even the last time the team moved a player just befor his new deal kicked in

At the end of the day we just cut 4 mill off the cap with RyJo, probably some coming back when resolved, Peterssen will be gone, Ellis will be off the books by the time Michkov's ELC is done, Hathaway will be gone by then. Ristolainen gone by then. Cap will have increased 3x over that period. Theres going to be enough cap space. Not to mention Cates could be on his way out too.

There is no guarantee that Tippett or Farabee arent moved at some point either.

Perhaps if you are expecting to get a top 10 pick sure, its unlikely but anything past that you can move up. We saw SJ move up to 11.

It just depends on who a team is looking at and what they see the ceiling at. You are probably looking at a pick and a player to move up. Typically it would be a player at the ceiling they see the pick at + the draft pick. Just because a guy is ranked high doesnt mean teams see a high potential for that player.

With a potentially deep draft you can get a really good player. Ex 2003 draft

11th Jeff Carter
14th Seabrook
17th Parise
19th Getzlaf
20th Burns
23rd Kesler
24th Richards
26th B.Boyle
28th Perry

In their Prime those were top line\pair players

The Flyers will probably be picking outside the top 10 anyway. I can see the Flyers trading their 2 late firsts for like a 15-19 pick, but that's just adding depth...nothing more. The whole point of trading up in the draft is to get a kid that could be a big impact on the team in the future...those show up in the top 5, every once in awhile the top 10.

Even Byrce Young would have made a better throw on that 3rd down.....28-0 coming up......Eagles arent coming back like Georgia did last night

Just pretending all these players coming off without the organization extending or making other dumb moves is fantasy land. You’re typing a lot of nothing.

if if if if if if........

amazes me all the if scenarios.

IF laughton is still on this team come the deadline he will be getting at least a 3 year ext. no doubt about it. maybe a slight cut maybe the same money.

flyers like to keep all these guys around who know nothing but losing and are a part of said losing.

no need to for the seeler ext. def no need to ext GH when they did.

Sounds like a plan to build a cup winning team. Just trade everybody. Easy peasy.
