And... I could be wrong but ... I think he opted for arbitration.

Yes, he is the one who asked for arbitration which is why the Bruins had the option of signing him for one or two years. Whoever didn't ask for arbitration gets to determine the length (one or two years) of the contract.

He did. I have to imagine, last years arbitration now looks like a walk in the park. I think Swayman has lost some fans with this drama.

The Bruins did a favor to Swayman by not choosing two years after arbitration.
The Bruins did a favor to Swayman by not bringing him to arbitration this year.
The Bruins did a favor to Swayman by trading Ullmark.
At the end of the day, they are trying to do right by him while also not taking on a massively risky contract.

Saros just signed for 8x7.4 and he was approaching UFA status. He also has a much larger sample size as the lead goalie so i get why the Bruins are pissed.

Swayman is not reciprocating in any way shape or form and is refusing to use comparables. Maybe it is his agent and it probably is but this should have never reached training camp.

Most likely is...same agent that handled Nylander to a Dec 1st signing.

What a load of crap. First NHL game in Quebec City in 5 years and it's not televised anywhere.

Swayman keeps saying (in the press) he wants to be in Boston long-term.

He could end this fiasco any time by signing the deal Neely mentioned.

If he refuses because his feelings are somehow hurt... well... we don't need any buttercups playing for the Bruins. Trade his ass.

This is pretty much it right there. A similar end happened with Marner in Toronto. Dubas went to the player and ultimately got the deal done. This agent seems like he is sort of a clown.

Swayman did opt for arbitration as a protection method. Deals can still be struck before then. Sweeney didn't even try to hammer out a deal. He let the arbiter decide the deal.

Also arbitration could be one of those things that his agent recommended. Something to keep in mind.

I doubt we know that. And I would find it hard to believe he talked deals, and made them, with the other two RFAs that filed for arbitration but refused to talk to Sway's camp? Highly unlikely but not unlikely that they couldn't reach a deal so they went to arbitration. The award was closer to what Sway's camp asked for...

The award was closer to the Swayman camp ask. You're right. Did Sweeney refuse to talk to Swayman's camp at all? Probably not. When I say didn't even try, I guess that leaves room for that statement to be taken too literally. Let me rephrase.

Sweeney's top priority has never been Swayman. When I say he didn't even try, I mean that everything else has come first when it comes to this player. Swayman's agent has some blame, but Sweeney and company hold an equal amount.

I will not be a Don Sweeney supporter in this matter. At some point his part in this has to be called out. He has shown a pattern of behavior over the last few years that shows Swayman has been an afterthought.

The agent is still part of Swayman's "camp". If he took the agent's advice, that's his problem.

He needs to get an attitude more like Frederick - who understands what goes on during arbitration is BUSINESS, not personal.

Swayman is lucky Bruins did not take the 2-year deal. I can only wonder how much he would female dog and moan if that happened.
