keep catering to the .0001 %

FEMA has come under fire after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted to reporters that the agency “does not have the funds” to safeguard Americans through the remainder of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, its coffers depleted in part by the more than $1.4 billion it has spent addressing the migrant crisis since fall 2022.

what a fn joke. all good as the FEMA giving the hurricane peeps 750 cash payment.

Also mentioned St. Louis numerous times as a model they are trying to follow when asked about drafting high and acquiring elite players.

So basically, the plan is to catch lighting in a bottle for one season and suck in perpetuity.

- MBFlyerfan

No, what Briere was saying is there are many ways to build a team, and you don't necessarily have to have a team of super stars to win a Cup. He also rightly pointed out that with the draft, drafting high does not necessarily mean you are going to get the right player for your organization, there is a lot of luck involved. I heard nothing from Briere today that makes me think they plan on drafting in the top 10 again for quite some time, thus I expect some or most of the picks the Flyers have in this upcoming draft will be used in trades for established players or younger players looking for a change in scenary.

It's amazing that you say No, without grasping that what MB said is correct. It just flies right over your head.

Slow down, everyone has an opinion and while I agree that the thruple's opinion is all that matters as they have roster control of the team it doesn't mean they are correct. You aren't going to get everyone on this board to turn off their brains and agree with you.

Do you have issue with any of my other points?

As far as Jett not meeting the criteria and it just being my opinion, you really should read the blogs you are posting in.

this one is also concerning :

I'm not sure why but your argument reminds me of the lawyer from "The Verdict" (great movie). The facts aren't on his side but just keeps trying to get the witness to give up on the truth.

- Flyers_01

Of course I don't expect people to not have opinions or turn off their brains as you say. I just took expection to this statement you made:

The 18 yr old kid has not met the criteria traditionally used to get the 9 game trial or god forbid stick with the big club the entire year.

What "traditional" critieria are you referring to? That is my point. Coaches like Torts don't look at stats like points or advanced metrics. They look at other things about the person and how they handle things, are they coachable, do they understand the game, etc. I think Luchanko should be sent down after a few games with the Flyers, but we have to be careful as fans to not judge a player by our standards based on what we see on a stream. Torts and Briere are watching this kid in practic, in the gym and outside the facility every day as he competes against real NHL players. In fact just today Torts said Luchanko was the best player on the PP. So my point is we have to look at the player from a coach's perspective, not a fan's perspective.

when was the last time the flyers traded a player they drafted within the first 1-3 years of drafting them? When was the last prospect for prospect trade?

They will trade some of the picks that is inevitable. unless they totally crap the bed.

Very little faith? They have brought in Michkov and Luchanko, and have also managed to bring over two Russian goalies, and a 3rd one that might be better than these two is in the pipeline. They have not been perfect, but the team and organization is in much better shape now than it was two years ago. The trend is certainly pointing up for the Flyers.

wow what fn coup. that is so damn impressive. they did their job.

the team and organization look the same to me outside of MM. How the hell anyone can defend this organization is beyond me. overall, they still suck.

pointing up. they are so far away, still stuck in the same place as years ago. no high end skill (less MM) on the team or in the organization.

Please stop with the false information. The only thing that is correct in the entire post is that FEMA needs more money for disaster aid. We've been through this before.

1. Migrant housing is totally separate than disaster aid and is funded separately. There is no mixing of funds.
2. The $750 is the immediate assistance cash payment for necessities while the rest of their claim is being processed. It is not the final payment.
3. The republicans vote against FEMA funding (this is easily fact checked) and then blame everyone but themselves.

https://www.newsweek.com/...inst-fema-funding-1963980

There is enough tragedy going around right now besides dealing with the political falsehoods. There has been no mismanagement of FEMA and they are treating everyone equally with funds which they have been allocated and in the manner consistant with their charter.

If you want to be angry at someone, be angry at the right people.

Edit : This is crazy.
Turns out Trump actually diverted funds in 2018/2019 and there was no outrage.
https://www.washingtonpos...ema-money-misinformation/
Trump, however, did move money from FEMA as president: He diverted nearly $10 million in funding to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to use for detention programs in 2018. In 2019, his administration redirected millions more from the disaster fund to ICE, including $38 million in the middle of hurricane season.

once again you seem to confuse realism with being negative.
- hello it's me 2050

Realism is accepting things can be good or bad. This board generally only accepts things can be bad,.When the Flyers do something good, it is spun as bad or something irrelevant is also spun as bad like how the one poster believes that being blown away by a player is the same as loving a player.

Most of what you post points out the issue. A kid who just turned 18, shouldn't make an NHL team based on how they handle "things". If they are coachable or do they understand the game. He is hockey player for heavens sake who was drafted in the first round. Nor should a kid who just turned 18 make an NHL team based on what he does in the gym or outside the facility. Your mistake is thinking that others aren't looking at it from a "coaches" perspective. They are and the only thing that matters is if Luchanko is ready to play full time in the NHL at this point in his development. Is this the right move for the player at this point in time. Anything else, is just nonsense.

The majority of actions and statements suggest that although the names have changed, its the same old same old. You're right back in the same spot you were when you announced that Fletcher has put the Flyers on the path to the cup.

Again they are funded separately, the amount spent on migrants has no bearing disaster aid. The summarized statement has been crafted to imply otherwise. Easily fact checked and links have been provided previously.
