Yeah I’m really liking it as well, it’s why I can see Dewar moved or hopefully clearing if sent down. Obviously staying hot matters and no injuries… makes October an interesting month that’s for sure.

My biggest question is Jarnkrok (which could obviously change)… he’s essentially up against Robertson and Pacioretty at this point… do you sit Robertson? Or Pacioretty? Rotate all three? I’m truly curious how that will play out.

- Dozzer

I think Dewar is basically a younger slightly cheaper version of the Yarn Crook. Can line up all forward positions, has some jam, can skate, can play PK, etc.

I'd give the edge to Jarnkrok for being able to play up in the lineup, but that's just because I've seen it and it's been fine and haven't seen Dewar do the same thing.

I think one of the two needs to go.

Oh agree with what you’re saying but Jarnkrok started the season on the LTIR and has an injury history. I genuinely wonder what it would take to move him.

Are you trying to believe that Liljegren isn’t on the trade block? He’s way overpriced for the role he’s even battling for. Nor is he nowhere near physical enough to play Berube’s game. It’s a guess I’ll admit but I’d honestly be surprised if the leafs don’t move him. At $3 mill he’s in the 2nd pairing pay amounts.
- Dozzer

No it's that I think there's more than one option. Maybe they still think he could be something and want the depth for whatever reason.

The leafs are 0-6 so far on the PP
They have been on the PK 10 times

not a good ratio PP/PK

only 2 games. but yeah

- senstroll

Leafs got IMO BS calls against them last night.

I get it, but the leafs are a very cap tight team. Can they afford $3 million a year for depth?

I don’t mind Liljegren, but his role at his price combined is ugly.

It sure is ugly but it's above our pay grade to make those decisions

I also don't understand why they haven't moved him yet if they have no interest in playing him outside of injury. /shrug

He's already 6 goals behind last year's pace.

Is it too early to start talking about trading him for spare parts?

Do you think we could get a 3rd rounder for him?

- Atomic Wedgie

His contract is too large to move. We'd have to include at least a second.

Because nobody is offering what Tre thinks he’s worth is my guess. So they’ll hold on until at least the end of October and see if a team gets an injured PMD they desperately want to replace. It’s a guess but it’s where I think the leafs stand with him.

Literally, something HAS to happen with Hak and Dewar coming back eventually. Lilly, Dewar, or Jarny are the most likely guys, but who knows what Tre is cookin.

I love this lineup right now, but we need some insurance/depth, different looks.

Do we let Reaves go? He looks good when he hockeys, but will he do that consistently?

It's kind of a weird situation, if you were really trying to trade him, wouldn't you be playing him? Hard to get any value for a $3M guy who isn't even good enough to crack your lineup. I think it was you that mentioned, maybe they're showcasing Timmins to move him. I don't love that, I like the way he plays. Not perfect, but moves the puck well and is cheap. Want to see him get a real good look this year.

Yup. I haven't felt this good about a Leaf roster in as long as I can remember. No glaring holes, and a LOT of players with ridiculously high ceilings, (Stollarz, Robertson, Patches, Hildebeast, etc).

To be fair I’m still not entirely sold Hakanpaa gets back. Hence why the contract was shortened, etc. The leafs are a team who can afford to keep him on LTIR easily if he never reaches NHL skill again. Essentially it’s a non cap hit gamble Rogers can more than afford.

But like you said, we’ll see in the future because who knows?

I think this is a desperate argument tbh. Maybe they are trying to move Timmins but if Liljegren was the meant to be 6th/7th guy he’s still overpaid and he would have at least gotten to play in the season opener if that didn’t matter.

Liljegren simply isn’t a Tre/Berube style D man either. They like them big, physical, and never the type to gamble defence on an offensive chance.

As I said that is what it seems like so far, but it’s a guess on my part all the way.

He's skating with the team, so my guess is they'll activate him in November.

No, he will not hockey consistently. Unless you mean being on the ice wearing a hockey uniform while the other teams shoots the puck into our net. In that sense, he will hockey consistently.
