yeah, I hear ya

I just really think it's kind of like a Juan Soto situation with Igor

he wants to see what he can get as a UFA next summer

doesn't mean he won't sign long term with the Rangers next summer, and maybe he'd still give the Rangers a final chance to match some other teams offer, but I just get the feeling he's going UFA

and thats fine, if he's betting on himself, 2024-25 should be a great season

- jimbro83

If that's really the case ( he wants to become UFA ) then Drury has to explore a trade. Can't have him pull a Tavares and we get NOTHING for beyond this year!

Send him to Utah, let him see how much Russian culture there is amongst the Mormons!

If he gets to Free Agency on July 1st 2025 can the Rangers still offer him the 8th year?
- climbdenali12

Nope, once he's a UFA he's only getting 7 years.

the only way I can see Igor getting traded is if the Rangers are out of it at the deadline

but if the Rangers are out of it at the deadline, that means Igor had a poopty season and likely won't get as much as he thought anyway

the only problem with debating whether or not Igor should get 12 million a year is what evidence do we have that he would even accept that number?

maybe he wants to be highest paid player in NHL

- jimbro83

I use $12M because that gets to the top of my comfort level at least. Not that I would never go above it but I would not give Igor Draisaitl's contract, and certainly wouldn't give him what McDavid is bound to get. Would like him to also be below Matthews and MacKinnon who make $13.25 and $12.6 respectively, but if he's in that range I could live with it I suppose.

If he wants $14M+ I would shop him for sure but I don't get the impression that he would hold out for that and I don't really think other teams would get close to that number, especially only being able to go 7 years

I am willing to bet someone would still pay him saying it was an off contract year. He has enough of a history to go on.

If paying Igor is painful to any of you, I implore you to watch the highlights of the St. Louis/San Jose game last night for a taste of some dreadful goaltending. Makes me appreciate Igor so much more. Also Celebrini looked pretty solid from the highlights I saw. Goal and assist in his first period.

If Igor just wants to be the highest paid on the team, trade Panarin then sign him for 9.6 so he's right above fox. easy peasy

I just hope Celebrini doesn't get hurt, I feel like these young phenoms always get hurt at some point in their rookie seasons

Maybe, maybe not, if he doesn't clear he gets his NHL salary so I'm sure he's happy about the extra money each day

Why does it look like the guy is going to drive off the ice and enter the tunnel? wouldn't it be 1000 times safer to stay on the ice

That, sir, is a different game completely that you are talking about.

Indeed.

Reminds me of when I worked at a restaurant in high school and for 6 months thought I was a bust boy.

My exact thought. I was also unclear on why he was still on the thing at all!

Zam rooms have a garage door to the outside to dump ice, service the zam etc. more than likely he is getting it out of the building so the building doesn't catch fire.
