Another good road period.

Hawks so far playing the 1-2-2 forecheck perfectly.

This is the professionalism you could see from period 1 of the preseason. You infuse that many old vets and it's to be expected and if you compare and contrast to last yr it's like watching a different sport.

But, Soderblom, man and he too showed in the preseason he's nothing like last yr. Like a different player. If he were in an unmarked jersey no way you think it's him..... Last yr anything his way he turned into a fire drill but from puck drop in September the dude has been quiet, efficient and square.

I really like KDs philosophy of drafting burners in the 3rd round, hell why not, but when i read about Spellacy he's one of those luxuries you can draft when you have so many draft picks, burner with size and a baby in development

Brodie and Martinez showing why KD acquired them. They aren’t there to be powerplay specialists they are there for their defensive work. And the younger guys are following their lead. Strong defensive work clogging the middle of the ice forcing the Jet players to go wide. And there there’s Soderblom who looks much different from last season. Lucky for the Hawks the tall foreheads on this site didn’t get their wish to launch him to the Andromeda Galaxy. And it shows us another whipping boy, Lucas Reichel, needs some time to prove himself. Look at Carter Verhaeghe of Florida, it took a few years for him to find his game. He dropped all the way to the ECHL and now look at him.
