And Marchand didn't smack him?

He must be mellowing out in his old age.

Am I the only one that sees this as a problem? Did nobody else see this happen (I have yet to see it in print anywhere). I don't recall a comment from Brick or Judd during the game either but the exchange was clearly shown. Monty shoving the back of Marchy's shoulder as he sat on the bench and red faced screaming at him. If that is happening out in the open, can only imaging what is happening in the room...

It's one thing when this is with someone like Torts who has the hot head history, but Monty is supposed to be a "player's coach" and this is way out of character.

I had missed the game. While I never made it far as a hockey player, I am in 2 bands at the moment and have been in others for last 27-28 years. When in group situations like that where there are stakes involved, tensions can and will boil over. Sometimes when working that closely with people you want to cave in their (frank)ing face. You don't do it obviously but it's natural. I think having a certain level of tension can improve a group. It drives improvement.

I will say, if the team starts to take a dive then yeah it's problem. Might be indicative of Montgomery losing the team, Marchand's leadership is ineffective, or both.

Not enough of a sample size to feel anyway about it yet.

I admittedly had to go watch this.

I am not for any coach showing a public display of aggression towards players. Coaches screaming is one thing, but displaying your discontent physically should never be a thing. I'm a little surprised there wasn't a statement on it.

I dont know what the dynamic between Marchy and Monty is. I agree with Glove that if we begin to see a downward slide in the play of Marchy and/or the team in general, then yes I think we can say for sure its a problem.

Kinda makes me wonder if they are holding back on an extension for Monty to see how the first few weeks play out

It makes Montgomery a lame duck coach at the moment. No length in contract, the team is free to blow him out at any time.

This...again, if it's Torts...sure not overly surprising but Monty's reputation is a player's coach. And the complete non-discussion and absolutely no reporting of it by the press is surprising.
I think we were obviously spoiled by Chara and the Bergy as captains...I like Marchy but not sure he is really captain material. Let's face it, he spent the vast majority of his career as a rat and a goofball...no issues what-so-ever with his work ethic or abilities, but the rat/goofball label would NEVER be attached to Chara or Bergy. But then again, who does this team have otherwise?

I dont think torts should get a pass either, at least when it comes to interacting with your players physically in that way. We will see what comes of it I guess. Definitely something to watch.

All I have to say is thank goodness for that 4th line. They are playing more like a 2nd line right now. Koepke was a nice addition. You can tell he is feeling it right now and just playing lights out.

Didn't mean to imply Torts should get a pass (he shouldn't/wouldn't) just that it is more in line with his M.O. compared to Monty.
Agreed, 4th line has been awesome and a very pleasant surprise. It also looks like we have no replacement yet for JD. I'm hoping someone steps up and into that role of production as it is very much needed.

I know we will get a boost in production with Elias Lindholm. But middle six scoring seems to be more of an issue.

Also wasn't insinuating anything with torts. Wrong is wrong, and you were correct in pointing it out.

That Wyatt Johnson looks good. Glad we drafted Lysell. Zach Hamill part II: Electric Boogaloo

Man, teams were clamoring for him at trade deadline when he was lighting it up in juniors...if only we had made the move...

They can have him. He's not going to make the league. Him or Merkulov. (frank)ing useless the 2 of them. Hamill and Caron.

Looks like TSN had a typo.

4 - 0 final score.

This team has problems. Any more coach-player fights?

No coach-player but Kastelic did put a beat down on Schen. About the only highlight of this game. Still completely undisciplined with way too many penalties and way too many turnovers. The Preds clearly wanted it more (not surprising being winless coming into the game).
Monty's gone by Thanksgiving if things don't turn around and hopefully Jones never sees another minute of ice time in a Boston Bruins sweater.
