Reilly just personally cost them a minute of that PP. |

Going to be a long frustrating season. Fans were not happy. This team gets virtually no offense from the defense. This does not work in today’s NHL. |

You can have 70 shots and it's meaningless if you are not screening the goalie and getting to the dirty areas. No moral victories for a team that is not rebuilding. |

This early season is looking like a bad EKG read out. This what causes teams to start their playoff push in January. Defense and Offense need to put together the same game. Not Defense one night, Offense the next.
Cap strapped hinders movement and upgrades. |

Team is in bad spot with the roster and the Cap. The Duclair injury makes things even worse.

Can’t upgrade with little tradeable assets. The assets you do have you shouldn’t give up due to the Islanders being far closer to a rebuild then competitiveness. We should’ve did a retool three years ago after we missed the playoffs. Factor in some bad contracts and players that have been to comfortable on this team for far too long and you have the NY islanders. My only goal for this team this season is right here.

Owners have to wake up and start looking for Lou's replacement now. Team needs to trade away Nelson, Palms, and anyone else they can. Team needs to give up this fantasy they can contend, and Lou needs to do the right thing and step away |

My only hope is the guy doesn’t start trading what little we have to try and save what would have been an at best mediocre season with or without duclair. |

This is the fear Cpt. I do not want to hear excuses about a Duclair injury and this giving Lou more time.

They won't be bad enough to land him, unless they finish in the bottom 11 and have a colossal stroke of luck in the lottery.
But they can do the smart thing and move Nelson and Palmieri at the deadline and get back probably, at least, two 1st rounders unless one or both of them have absolutely atrocious seasons and/or get injured.
It's too early for this talk, but man...getting shutout in half of your first 6 games is terrible. Last night's attendance was apparently the lowest yet for an Isles game at UBS to date. |

Not sure anyone could make the argument that we were one Anthony Duclair away from being a truly competitive team work. |

I don’t think it’s too early for this talk. I’ve been having this talk for going on four years now. |

Does it make sense to even trade them before the deadline because of the injury risk if they can make good deals?
I do not think it is too early. Fans are getting frustrated already. Owners have to tell Lou you either step down or you are getting fired. You have the give the fans some red meat. Too many other things to do in NY. Maybe let Patrick take over as GM and he can hire someone to assist. |

I mean I get it. I'm not really opposed to it, but it's just so early in the year. They don't even look terrible, they just can't score a single goal every other game
Unless they have a major turnaround (not expecting it) they can't fumble the ball with Nelson and Palmieri. Those are their opportunities to help expedite a rebuild. If they hang onto them for some hairbrained attempt at a "playoff push" that will result in another 5-6 game loss in the first round they are adding years onto a rebuild. |

The problem is chief this is a vet team and not a rebuilding one and playing well is not good enough. The best thing for the future is for the team to start losing now as to not give the slightest hope this can be fixed.

I'm not against it, but I don't think another team is going to be willing to offer up trade-deadline returns early in the season before they know what their team's needs are. My money is still on a Nelson/Trotz reunion in Nashville and their early-season losing streak is only solidifying that. |

Hopefully Nashville keeps losing and it builds the pressure. No offense I really like Barry, but do not want to see if become a star as a GM.

That's the frustrating part. Last year, they were unwatchable for 3/4 of any given game...beat to every puck, bonehead mistakes, no offensive pressure, no speed, and no energy. Then they'd discover how to play hockey late in the third and come up short.
This season hasn't been like that. I think they've looked pretty good, and I haven't found myself looking for other things to do while the game's on in the background like last year. There's just no finish, unfortunately, which I guess is just a different way of getting to the same old result unless they figure it out. |

It’s only about the results with a vet team. You take this play with a young rebuilding team. |
