Probably the 1st call up when someone's injured. Him or Barre-Boulet.

I can't believe some people still think the best way to bring attention to a problem or convince people to support you is by pissing them off.

It gets attention.

Otherwise, the media don't give a poop.

Not advocating the tactics, just stating the reality.

Feels like the only thing getting attention is the traffic and people pissed being late.

Not their actual cause.

Whatever it is.

I think it just pushes people away from your cause. Or even makes them unsympathetic.

global warming... not that I find what they're doing is necessarily smart, but it's true that the sense of urgency might not be as strong as it should be.

Even if you killed the entire population of Canada, it would absolutely change nothing about global warming. Doesn't mean we should do nothing, but I'm not for drastically decreasing everyone's quality of life for marginal gains.

not quite sure what your point is there... but if you're waiting for a global government that will force all countries to take action, you're gonna wait a long time. settling for not doing anything at all is a bit selfish imho. and it isn't like we'd turn into a 3rd world country either because we've decided to take action collectively in Canada lol.

I think it's all very hypocritical, the whole "not in my backyard" mentality. We refuse to exploit our natural resources for environmental reasons so we let up and coming countries take care of anything that pollutes just so we can feel good about ourselves. Even though it would create a lot less pollution if we did it here with better environmental norms. And it would also improve our economy which isn't doing great at all.

And blocking the bridge leaves MORE cars stuck burning fuel in traffic.

well it needs to start somewhere. this doesn't mean that delegating more polluting activities to other countries should be considered either, it's also an issue that needs to be dealt with. there are no simple solutions, unfortunately, especially when there are so many climate change deniers out there.

Make people more aware of the issue/ put it in their face again (especially with an election looming), even if it pisses them off.

Or just not make people aware.

I get why they do it, not something I would do, but I get it.

whatever, I find that's a very weak argument. at least we're talking about it, jfc.

the only real issue I have with this kind of protest is if people that have medical appointments or that need special care are affected by it, that's an actual issue imho.
