Rebuilding baby!!!! Top 5 pick here we come! |

Torts doesnt have the same expectations as Hitch or even Lavy. Anythong less than playoffs for Hitch or Lavy was a failure. Right now the Flyers arent concerned with the playoffs. They would like to make it but it isnt an expectation
If the Flyers just suck I can see the team just accepting it. Briere knows they need more talent so a bad year would be a gift. - xShoot4WarAmpsx

could be, i chalked that up to GM speak. I was thinking its because he is a college player and i think the same agent as cutter, he just wanted to stay away from that. But he could be thinking size also. But already enough small dman, could mean drysdale and york and not necessarly andrae.....this whole team is a trainwreck, At least we maxed out the cap and have a basement team....thats hard to do - bradster He mentioned Andrae by name.

I would agree that should be the case, but their lack of inaction in the offseason suggests they believe they are closer to the playoffs then top 5 pick. Now, I do believe keeping Torts at HC gives them the most likely path to top 5, IMO. I believe the line juggling will be ratched it up even more and the accountability scratching. Did not even mention how fragile goaltending continues to be.

Yea, I've got quotes from last year from DB saying his focus was on the playoffs at the TDL. They caved to Feds demands before he would get on the plane to try to save their playoff run last year without a doubt.
They are trying to have the best of both worlds, claim they are focusing on development while letting the media be their PR arm so they have deniability while all the while trying to make the playoffs with their roster.
You can't tell me any of their roster moves from opening day on were about "development".

Konecny 33 goals
Tippett 28 goals
Farabee 22 goals
Foerster 20 goals
Thats 4 already that have hit 20+.
Michkov could def hit 20, Frost had 13 last season in 71 games. He could hit 20.Brink had 11 goals in 57 games. He could potentially hit 20 as well. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Come on man. They had the 6th WORST goals for last year. You can name all the players you want but it does not change the stat as a team. I get you are the orange tinted glasses type but if it quacks like a duck…

Dont worry, the Flyers keep their own council on who they rank in the draft. They will go off the board and emulate the Bruins of 2015. |

Those players all hit those numbers if they are winning and one of the best teams in the league.
The problem is consistency game in and game out. Plus with depth the hope when one player has a non impactful game someone else picks up the slack. The Flyers have too many games where everyone sucks at the same time.

Anyone notice the difference Deslauriers made that period? Took some nice shots to the face and then fired up the crowd. He represents the standard and the oozes culture. |

The Flyers actually had a solid period at 5 on 5. The PP, well that's another story.
Players playing with Michkov need to learn to jump into holes when he has the puck down low. Not a big guy but he shields the puck so well and can dish equally well on the forehand or backhand.

Really bad comparison - MM was the absolutely easiest pick in the history of Flyers drafting. It was literally a no brainer.

Scratches are irrelevant. Young players get scratched. There some weird mind hive mentality with young players that teams just play them. That isnt the case. Many young players get scratched when they arent performing. Necas, Laine, Kent Johnson for example.
Development is exactly what the Flyers are going for, that is why they are one of the youngest teams in the NHL. Flyers have Frost, Michkov, Tippett, Foerster and Luchenko typically in the top 6 this season, all these players are 25 and under. Even with the Scratched Farabee who is 24 is replacing Foerster in the top 6. Then one of our best Dmen is Cam york whos what 23?
If the Flyers could you could almost bet they would get rid of Couturier. which would drop the avg age even more.
