All you need to do is look at the Flyers group of centers to know they will have a top 10 pick. Add in the goaltending beyond Ersson and the lack of quality and depth on D and hopefully it’s top 5.
Flyers are trying to be the first organization to build a contender from the wings in. - BiggE
What is even more embarrassing is they have no one to call uo from the Phantoms. After years of futility not one center prospect to give a look too.
What other option does Torts have a center at this point? Luchanko needs to go back to Guelph, Couts is a 3C or at this stage, Cates is a 4C and Laughton is best a wing. Frost is where he shouild be for this season a 2C and I applaud Torts for not jerking him around the lineup so far. Peohling clearly is not a 1C, but this these are the centers Briere has give Torts to work with. - jd250
This actually, in a most unfortunate way, makes sense. It still does not make me happy. Agree on Luchanko, but if he is here then he should play. And right now he is more of a 1C than Poehling ever will be

Jett is no where close to being a 1C and has shown me nothing that is reedy for the NHL. At this point, RP will give you more than Jett will.
Am I saying RP should be 1C, no, but as far as I can tell, no one is a 1C on this team. Just roll the dice and see what happens. Who cares at this point, don't we want them to tank?
RP will not be on the 1st line the entire game.
You remove walker, Cam and Hart and this team sucks. Go figure
Andrae is the reason that the Flyers didn't draft Buium. What an embarrassing statement that was by DB. Sometimes it's best not to say anything. - Phillywhiteout
You fail to recognize the issue with your own argument and its a logic fail. You're arguing on one hand that players like Frost and Couturier are slotted properly and should be left where they are and then sutbeinpporting the decision to move Poehling, who is a 4C to the 1C role. It's really simple. Play the better player at 1C and that's Couturier. It's nice that you applaud Tortorella for not being stupid.
- MJL
Perhaps what you fail to recognize is at this point, Poehling is a better option at 1C than Couts is. Surely Poehling is not close to Couts on faceoffs, but a this point Poehling is a better skater and has a better chance to keep up with play. Look, its early in the season, Torts will experiement and see how it works. We all know Torts will give it about 1 period before he changes it up if he doesn't like it.

I agree, if you are going to keep Luchanko here, put him at 1C and grin and bear throughout the season. But is that best for Luchanko's development? Probably not.

Whether or not he need to go back to Guelph, the reality is that he hasn't gone back. Torts wants him on the Flyers roster and if he's on the Flyers roster he should play.
They are just sticking to their schedule of not playing him in back to back games but again that is Torts choice. I feel they may keep him up all year.

ANY other option than playing a marginal 4C with your prized rookie offensive player. He should put him with Frost and LEAVE him with Frost.
How long before MM39 realizes what a joke this organization is and goes back to Russia? - Flyfly
Where else is he going to get the GM and POH to cater to him? Carry his bags and sticks, fly over all his relatives, etc? He knows what kind of operation this is. To bad they couldn't get Torts to drive the limo. I would love to see a pic of Torts as a limo driver.
There are multiple reasons they are hard to take seriously.

He didn't say that Luchanko is a 1C. He said that Luchanko is closer to a 1C than Poehling will ever be.
I agree that the lines will change in the game. Atkinson was not a factor last year

No, you're wrong. Poehling is not a better option at 1C than Couturier is. Not even close.

I agree. I dunno how anyone can watch any part of a game and think that RP is better than SC. Sure, RP goes fast... but it's just fast into fumbling the puck away. Or he can't think the game fast enough so has to slow down and look around for what to do... and then a back checker gets to him. It's literally every time he touches the puck.
Sure, SC is slowed down. But he's smart enough to be in the right spot, he makes small plays with his stick and his positioning and he's a big body. He's definitely not what he used to be but a 50% SC is 100% better than RP any day of the week.

Exactly
I would send Luchanko back to Junior immediately and go with:
Foerster-Frost-Michkov
Tippett-Couts-TK
Farabee-Cates-Brink
Laughton-Poehling-Hathaway
It’s still not very good, but it’s as good as they can get right now.

There's a huge difference between a controlled burn and a dumpster fire. Things are not going according to plan. There was a productive, controlled way of doing this where everyone can see the longterm plan and wisdom of what they are doing. Then there's the Flyers way where they light a dumpster on fire while telling you nothing to see here.
